Sorry about the trouble you're having.

My convertible top got out of sync two days ago and the trunk was locked. (I had just put my laptop computer in the trunk and it messed me up for a meeting when I couldn't get it out.) I've got a 2005.

I went in through the passenger side license plate light opening. With a long screwdriver, I was able to push on something that looks like a white bellows unit. As soon as the screwdriver deflected the bellows a little, the trunk was unlocked. Sometimes I get lucky when I don't know what I'm doing...but not very often.

Once it was unlocked, I followed Pizzaguy's instructions for resetting the convertible top computer by manually raising and lowering the top three times with the engine running. It's back to "normal" again.

Hang in there.

Did you ever get the car fixed yet ?
I am going though the same thing with my car , My wife for some reason was trying to put up the window up...as I was closing the top , now it beep at me with the top up, I tried the re-sync process many time, without success, buzzed all the switches, all good , reset the D ring switch linkage, Then thinking, maybe with her pushing the window switch up and the same time ,That it took out the board in the modular , no change,
But now I'm locked out of the trunk as well , but I got the trunk open through the passenger side pleat light , on the long side ends of the light , there are push in tabs, with something like a butter knife , side it in between the plastic and the metal , push in and pull down on the plastic light frame . Then with a screw drive, push the white plunger/solenoid to the passenger side, I took the solenoid out and on the end of it, remove the ram end that stops the truck form opening ,( It un-snaps ) then remounted the solenoid , because the switches NO and NC are build into the unit to tell the Modular that the trunk is open or locked,
But if you have any more INFO on the reset , can you post it..
On the reset I did it like this... , with the car running, (1) I un-did the D ring ,(2) put the windows down,(3) took down the divider in the trunk (4) un-did the bow latch (5) put back up the divider (6) lifted bow (7) un-latched top compartment (8) Put top in slowly(9) re-latched compartment (10) put windows up... that's the full cycle I think ....

As a matter of fact, I got it working today!

I sent my left and right main hydraulic lifting cylinders to Klaus at TopHydraulics. He rebuilt them in one day and got them right back to me. I installed them this morning (before we had another 100 deg F afternoon!) and "lo and behold" it worked.

Hoping to get some advice before I have to take my car to a repair shop. Put the top down and when I tried to put it back up, the hard cover raised up but the top would not move out of the compartment. I ordered the special tool and thinking it might be out of sync, my husband and I raised and lowered the top manually three times (after going through the procedure to release the hydraulic pressure..just in case) but it still would not work. I decided that I should at least just get the top up manually. but when we manually raised the top to the windshield the part with the glass window *sorry I don't know what that part of the top is called* we could not get it to move forward enough for the hard cover to be lowered into place. SO..we gave up and by pressing the DOWN button, it lowered itself back into the compartment, but this time it moved extremely slowly into place. When the convertible is in the stored position and I try to raise it, I can hear noise like it wants to move, but doesn't. I was just wondering what the forum experts might think the issue could be. I wondered if it could be the hydraulic fluid *it's an 05* as I'm not sure when the last time that might have been checked. I purchased it from the original owner in 2012 and I know it hasn't been checked while I've owned it. I went to my mechanic who unfortunately doesn't work on this type of issue and he thought it might be the motor and so am wondering IF that's the case what the cost of a repair to that might cost.
