Default check your flex disks!!

if you ever need to check a wear item this is it. check this thread from m/b world and see the damage that can occur from the driveshaft flex disk failing. pics are worth a thousand words! (or dollars!!!)

lets see.... one flex plate in front and one in back... that makes two(05127495AA) to buy and keep in the parts bin....

Steve, how well can you see the flex disc when installed??? (no I am not going to go jack the car up and look. Maybe when I do the brakes)

sorry mike gotta get under the car. and you need to rotate the shaft to see the entire flex plate. im trying to find out if the srt8 coupler will fit our cars they have a composite coupler that seems to be stronger for the v8 cars

I just saw these listed from one of the online suppliers this past weekend and they were only like $200 each. I'll try to find them as soon as I have time.....hockey tonight.

Steve, according to that link.... it is not compatible with the Crossfire or the SLK32... too bad to..

I will have the back end up and the wheels off for the brakes so it will be no problem.....

I am swapping my custom drive-shaft I built during my swap to a standard one piece U-joint shaft. You could use the adapter plate or yokes found here and eliminate the flex discs completely.
FYI- mercedes drive shaft adapter

Update!!! These will not work!!!! The center bore is correct but the bolt hole circles are wrong

I had to replace my flex disk. You could see the cracks.

Could somebody get back to me with the correct MB partnumber for the Flex Disc. I have seen several partnumbers out there and I don't know which fits our cars.

RockAuto lists ÜRO PARTS Part # 1704100115 Drive Shaft Flex Disc
for the MB sl320, about $40 a pop .......

amazon.com also has them at $45

I see one of the bolts on the diff yoke had come loose by looking at the top hole being oval and rusty. There must have been some serious power to cause the pilot bushing to fail. IMO, there should have been some vibration prior to failure

No, the disc connects the drive shaft to the trany and diff. yokes
