Numbers stamped inside gas cap?
Can anyone explain the two numbers stamped inside the gas cap. I have viewed two caps and each has a different set of the two numbers. Mine is 06 and 04 Another cap has 10 and 04
Here is a close up photo for reference. This should generate some thought processes !

Most parts have a date stamp or batch number on them for quality control and recall purposes. I would guess that that is what these numbers are. My car is an '05 made in '04 and the numbers on it are 05 and 03. Parts also have a number identifying the tool and often the cavity or section of the tool they were made in.

"..Most likely the month and year of manufacture..."
Perhaps for the cap itself, but NOT the vehicle. My car 's date of MFG is 09/04 with a MDH 091020
THANKS 180, edited so as to add my response to both of you
