thank again for the replies.

sorry I've been quiet for a while.

I finally had time to check if my fob was sending a signal today with a local locksmith.

My key IS sending a signal which is good news. but i guess the bad news is its looking more like its the skereem or the bcm.

I will also check out that relay first in a last ditch hope its something cheap.

I will update when i have more news

Probably the pump got wet in the trunk, if it is a roadster.

I gave up in the end, it was either the skreem unit or the bcm. I didn't investigate any further as both exceeded the money I wanted to spend on the car.

They key was sending the signal it just wasn't being received by the car. The pump in the boot was fine as every worked from the dash switch which I confirmed by visual inspection. The skreem has to be a codes one using your vin number. And there were mixed opinions as to if the bcm needed to be a vin match or just the exact part number.

Hope this helps, good luck. If you do ifnd out what it was please update the thread to help future owners

In Germany I have had a crossfire who has the same issue, there it was a connection problem on a plug. The skreem sends the open/close command over a serial connection (wire) to the bcm and the bcm over CAN to the locking pump in the trunk. The wire from the skreem to the bcm are split and have a plug in the paasenders side under the metal plate where also the amplifier and the control unit for the automatic transmission is bolted on.
After disconnect and reconnect this plug all works again. We soldered than the wire together because the plug is only necessary to install the wiring harness.
