It is probably the valve that prevents overfilling the tank, it is stuck in the closed position.

Is it the gas nossle kicking off? Are you seeing gas overflowing up the fill tube on your car? 2 very different problems. 1 is high pressure because ,maybe you are the only one using that product an getting full pressure from the motor suppling fuel at that pump. 2 could be a cut off at the bottom of the fill tube, but it is suppose to completely shut off the tank in case of accident. We've had discussions of this on here before.

Get a light and look see in the pipe, can you see an issue, stuck flapper may need to be probed with a long tool. WW

See, I was thinking it was the vent but this is why I wanted you to post here - I think the guys may very well be right about the "flapper".

There is a small line in the filler neck that runs up to the charcoal canister,it is called a vent tube. If ths line is pluged or damaged you will get these symptoms when you try to put in gsa. Lorne

The vent tube AINT IT. That does not equalize the pressure it captures fumes for emission. Crawl under the car and also see that the fuel line has not collapsed - the big fuel tube. The fuel tank is behind the seats and your path has an obstruction either the flapper for anti syphon or fuel inlet line. Woody

Whadda u see looking inside the filler neck?????????????

The big fuel tube is completely inside the trunk and is not visible from underneath the car.

You should also have an emissions code if this happened.
