Sweet Coolant Smell in the cabin.
Hi all,
Im a new owner of a SRT6 Roadster with 131,000km.
I've tried to search my issue in these forums but unsuccessful. (Searching is a bit hard on my mobile phone).
I notice after 30mins or so of driving, I start to smell a sweet coolant smell in the cabin. It is very faint.
In my previous experiences with different cars, this would normally mean a leak in the heater core.
I haven't noticed any water in the foot wells and there is no musty smell when entering the car.
Wondering if this is a common issue?
Could it be something else?
is it difficult to get to the heart core if it is the source of the leak?
All responses will be greatly appreciated.

could it possibly be "the smell of melting crayons" ?
If it is, then it is the adhesive used by the Germans during assembly. ( carpets and headliner )

Thanks to this forum i am learning more and more about these beauties every day.
If you can smell it the level should be lower every time you drive it, most likely the common smell of crayons coming from the glues used in the headliner, or so it is said.
When I bought my Crossfire I thought the exact same thing. So I waited it out for a while till I realized the car just smells that way. It's the oddest permanent air freshener.
My Roadster has the smell more apparent than my coupe. My roadster doesn't have a glued headliner. When I recovered my coupe headliner, I never noticed the smell while working on the actual headliner.. Carpets? possible.
No, i haven't changed the cabin filter and there is no mention of the cabin filter ever being replaced in the complete service history. Its on my "to do" list.
The OP has not said that he has any coolant losses.
One responce to a member complaining of the crayon smell said that if he wanted to get rid of the crayon smell in the car he should date older girls.
I did too. Once I knew it was how German cars smell anyway. When I was worried about a leak I didn't like it at all!
