Default Replaced Retractable Wing with SRT-6 Factory Wing and...

I installed the SRT-6 fixed wing on my 2004 Coupe. The cost to do this with paint was $1700. The biggest issue I still have is my dealership is too clueless to find out how to program the computer to tell it that I no longer have a retractable wing. They told me "No problem, we'll just tell the computer it is an SRT-6 after installing the fixed wing." I questioned this since the computer also drove the motor etc... They installed the wing... said have a nice day... "The light indicator will always flash unless we replace the switch with a dummy switch." I requested this at a later date and they will not replace it. After noticing the car's warning mechanism beeps at 80+ mph, I took it back to the dealership for a fix... I have had it in the shop three times with no fix. I questioned putting the "load" or the retractable wing back on the car, deploying it, then disconnecting the wing from the car. This in theory would tell the computer that the wing is deployed and possible make the beeping stop. Not knowing how the computer is programmed, it was only a suggestion... one they will not try. Total B.S. And I was told I could put this wing on the car, with no problems.

It would be nice to talk to someone at Chrysler (I have tried) to figure out what I can do to put a dummy plug in the switches place and turn off the 80+ mph beep indicator. No one at the dealership seems to care. My point is the SRT-6 is the Coupe, just with the fixed wing and bigger motor so, WTF over?

They saw the potential to make a profit off of the wing and didn't care whether I would be happy or not. The service I have received makes me want to sell it and purchase a Lotus or something. Time will tell.

I don't want to oversimplify, but can't you/someone just unplug the wire(s) that run from the wing to the control switch? Or would that still set off an "alarm" in the car? You're best bet may be to take it to a local alarm/audio company that is familiar with all things electrical...(but do your research on them first!)
Just a suggestion of course, I'm not sure if this has been considered since there's no mention of it.

I have asked the dealership to do all of this "testing" and I get the same answer at the end of the day. I don't think they are trying anything... to be honest with you. I just got off of the phone with Chrysler and they have escalated my concerns to the dealership and will be working with them tomorrow to have a resolution. Chrysler agrees that someone isn't doing their job at the dealership and wants to work with me to resolve the issue. They questioned why the stock switch hasn't been replaced with the dummy switch which apparently provides a bypass or something to tell the computer the wing isn't there etc. Hopefully this will be resolved soon. The next step will be taking the car to my audio shop. Those guys are good... I plan on replacing the stock speakers with something better since I already replaced the stock head unit with something better and it appears to be blowing the stock speakers.

Funny how peoples tastes are different. I'd like to have an SRT6 Without the wing or badges, and with the limited wheels and spoiler.

Yep! If the SRT-6 didn't have such a counter in the rear ... Otherwise everything else is perfect.

@Battlerock

I checked in the manual. Must be fuse #20, 10 A. Fuse box in the engine compartment.
Pull it out and see if it works. Cheap and easy.

$1,700 bux that is steep for a wing. But your dime your dance floor.

Kinda reminds me of these guys with there mustang GT's always getting "Cobra" stuff and putting it on their GT's. Never understood that logic. I mean its not a cobra so why embarrass yourself by saying it is one? If you want your car to look like a cobra buy one. I have owned 2 Mustang GT's and never did that, I always thought doing that was silly. Just like this kid who is trying to make his E46 325 look like an M3, so lame. Or the guys with their SS clones, and now people in there neons trying to pose SRT-4's. LOL

I could understand if you like the wing better, as I think it looks good. But the emblems? Sorry that is getting rice-tastic. JMO

I agree with the no wing SRT6, but they need better looking wheels, not just different! I like the stock Crossfire wheels better than the SRT6s. And they should come standard with cross-drilled rotors. And in red and Alabaster paint.

this is what i have done since ownership 1.5 years ago. i hate the look of the wing in its upright position on the alabaster (the dark under pinning plastics look cheap...cleaner look when its down imo). the light still flashes around 60 mph...but the wing stays down. after 90...i do get the beeping noise. i rarely do over 90 mph.

You don't feel any instability without the wing? I never tried. But I remember very well the Audi TT recall because of a missing rear spoiler. Both cars have a similar shape so I assumed our wing is a necessity at higher speed.

no difference at all...at least up to 100 mph.

over 100 mph, i think the wing should be activated (but not needed for my rare 90 mph driving).

As mentioned before, just remove the fuse. Surely your dealer is not trouble shooting your concern for free since it's an elected modification on your part and not covered under warranty.

Any pictures?

Removing the fuse took place long ago... that didn't resolve the issue. I got a hold of a very technical person at Chrysler today that designed the crossfire and he has a resolution that he will on tell the mechanic tomorrow while the car is in the shop. He said there is a fix and I will be happy after tomorrow.

Gene12-

I asked the dealer if I could do this and they recommended it. I have it in writing so it is the dealer's responsibility and as indicated in my other post, apparently it will be resolved tomorrow.
