Car Starts Then Dies Immediately
Hi guys,
Back with a new problem: my car starts then dies immediately. After attempting to crank it three times, the car doesn't even start anymore.
I've done some research on the issue and I'm trying to decide if this is something starter/fuel pump/ect related or if this is yet another key fob issue.
I've read if the car doesn't read the chip in the fob, you can't start the car. Does that sound like that is what is going on here? I'm not sure why this issue would suddenly crop up but I don't want to put my car in the shop if there isn't technically anything wrong with it but the security system demanding a new key fob. I haven't changed the batteries on the fob or done any work on the locking mechanisms at all, so as far as I can tell there is nothing that happened between my driving the car this morning and trying to start it again at lunch that would have resulted in it suddenly not working.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

It certainly has nothing to do with the fob batteries.
Try a computer reset first - disconnect the negative battery cable and wait 20 minutes, reconnect.
If the 3 and out scenario still exists, then you have the dreaded SKREEM issue, meaning the SKREEM module does not like the transponder chip ( unpowered ) in the fob, or
the PTCM ( power train control module ) does not like what the SKREEM is telling it.
There is a LOT of argument on the fix for this currently, do a lot of reading here on the forum and form your own opinion and go with it.

I hope it is not your screem. If it is, you can order them from needswings however they are about $700.00 and from what I understand not available until October. Call Rob at needwings to get an update.
Disconnected the battery, waited a bit and reconnected it and I'm back in business! Thanks for the info, guys. Glad I checked here before sending it to the mechanic.
Any idea what could have triggered the security system?
Any idea what could have triggered the security system?
No, I have no idea what triggered it, but count your blessings.
