Default SKREEM module programming wanted

Does anyone know of a place that I can send a SKREEM module to be reprogrammed?

I expect to get it back at the shop on Tuesday latest, and should have it back in the car shortly thereafter. I will report success when I am sure it all works. Everything else with the car was working fine when the SKREEM failed, but we will go over the car and change the oil, filter, etc. Cost for the SKREEM repair was $450 plus about $33. for shipping to them, they pay the freight back.

If this is successful it should be a boon to other owners in the same boat. I talked with Brian, the owner who was confident this would solve the problem. Of course I asked him what was wrong but he is, understandably, reluctant to give out that info. This is his/their proprietary method and they are certainly entitled to keep it to themselves. He told me he had spent a lot of time and research in coming up with this solution. So if it works, all Crossfire owners will have a way to fix their vehicles when the SKREEM bites. I'm happy to have been able to help with locating this solution. It may or may not work for everyone, but it should be a more economical way to fix what was rendering our cars useless.

This does not let FCA off the hook, and I will pursue the action against them. But now, if this works, we have an alternative. I got my Sebring suspension problems fixed - at considerable expense, and now I have the "emergency" Volvo in the garage, so the Crossfire is still for sale. If anyone is interested in it, and wants to fly in and drive it home, I will be happy to pick the new owner up at the airport and deliver the car to them. The shop where it is now resident is about an hour from either O'Hare or Midway. So if anyone wants a slick little yellow Ltd. Roadster in good shape, good tires, a top that could pass for new and everything working, make an offer. First come, first served. The first reasonable offer will get it. I just have too many cars for my situation and surprisingly, I am getting to like the Volvo more and more. I guess the omen for this was when the VA assigned me a Doc at the Geriatric center.

Finally, if the repair is successful, I would like to put the info up on a new thread so it would be easy for other owners to find without having to scroll through all the stuff on the old thread. I should have the verdict in by next week.

Great news, Wolf - will be looking for updates and hopefully they will be positive!!

First, I hope you, Wolf, and the other Veterans here have a nice holiday today. Thanks for your service.

Second, we're all standing by to get the report on your car after the repaired SKREEM is installed!

Wolf, one question? Can they just bypass that dang SKREEM? If so, that'll never be a problem (per VIN) again.

Hello Wolfstalker,,, Emery Erickson saying hello from Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada. In Sept I purchased an 05 yellow convertible with 21,000 miles from a one owner elderly couple from Calgary Alberta.. The price here was $14,000 which would be about 10 in the USA. I have religiously hung on every word you have posted. Your efforts have been relentless and greatly appreciated. . Two weeks after I purchased the car I experienced exactly what you did. I have literally held my breath as you and all of the amazingly wonderful correspondents battled your way to the doorstep of Mobile diagnostics and Programming . I will contact them tomorrow and make arrangements to send away the Skreem module, the ECM and the one and only working key that came with the car. You have my utmost respect and admiration for all your hard work. I hope it isn't too much to ask but I have a question of you or any of the good people on the crossfire forum. IS THE ECM AND THE ECU ONE AND THE SAME . I HEAR IT DESCRIBED AS BOTH. SINCE YOURS IS OUT AND IN HAND IM ALSO ASKING FOR A PICTURE PLEASE SO I KNOW EXACTLY WHAT THE ECM LOOKS LIKE . I KNOW ITS IN THE AREA BESIDE THE BATTERY FROM REMOVING THE RCM AND HAVING IT RE SOLDERED.
my email is emery@yourlink.ca or text a pic of what an ECM looks like to my phone at 306 250 5551. Greatly appreciated.

Here's a link to show what's in the box next to the battery. You want item 2. Easy in and out. Maybe you should wait a couple days until see if this works. Mine is not back yet (as of tonite.) Thanks for the kind words, but to date, we've accomplished nothing - except perhaps discovering a way to get the afflicted cars back on the road. It ain't over 'til it's over.

Thank you !!! I went to the diagram .showing the parts and pieces. .. Number 2 is called a power control module or PCM. Is the PCM and the ECU and the ECM all the exact same thing . I hear members speak of all 3 but Im realizing all three are just different names for the same thing . thanks for one last clarification. Will follow your lead and wait till you give a yay or nay. Much appreciated.!

The baby has arrived! Sex as yet unknown. Unfortunately tonight it is going to be 8 degrees here, so it may be a day or two until it will be warm enough to work outdoors. First snow, pulling down branches with leaves still on them, then this Yukon crap. There ought to be a law...

Further bulletins will be sent from the operating theatre as events occur. Meanwhile, watch the hearings.

Emery - yes, the Powertrain control module (PCM), the Engine Control Module (ECM) and the Engine Control Unit (ECU) are all the same part

No - the RCM is a different box. The RCM has connectors that you can just pull off (with a little effort) and the PCM/ECM/ECU has 2 connectors on each end that can be "pinched" and removed but the 3 connectors in the center have a flip type latch that secures them.

In the picture from the above link, the RCM is item #3.

Hello Blueinsrq
..Wolfstalker is the Hero here. He did all the work. He was relentless in his mission to help people like you and I. He would be helping you right now had I not noticed your request first. Wolfstalker is a war vet who is what I would call a perfectionist . Good is not in his vocabulary .. it has to be great or nothing. let me guide you in getting your skreem replaced. My ph number is Emery Erickson at 306 250 5551 . I am not concerned about posting my personal information. Everyone on this forum are wonderful to be respected people all with the same goal which is to keep our crossfires running . Brian at MDP can also create functioning Keys for the crossfire. Nobody else on this planet can do that. I'm asking everyone in the crossfire forum to please find your own way of informing others that Brian at MDP has the technology to successfully fix the skreem modules as well as clone one that you buy from an auto wrecker.. And yes they can with your key,,,, create functioning keys that will start your car. One tiny drawback is that you will lose your electric functions which is the ability to remotely lock and unlock your door's and truck on the key he cuts. SOOO what ,,,Open the doors by using the lock in the door manually. Today I bought two skreem modules from a wrecker and will have three keys cut to join my one and only factory key. Lets get the word out to any and all..

Hello Emery this is great news , So what I am reading is this is just for a key no remote. What I wanted was a replacement transponder to replace the transponder that fell out of one of my factory remotes . May I ask what it costs to have these services ? as we had learned this is not by any means cheap ?? thanks again for posting this. Thank God my Skreem has not failed but I guess I should then buy a few used Skreem units , if this can be done. I wonder if he could make a used Mercedes flip key to work on my car I would like a extra flip key, Perhaps not ?? thank you
