BAS ESP light comes on every time
When I start the car , no light . As soon as I turn the wheel in either direction , the light comes on and stays on . Any pointers on diagnosing this ? I've read several threads to no avail .

Start your car and turn the steering wheel all of the way to the right and then all of the way to the left and then to center. Turn it off and then start it up and drive it. Many times this resets the sensors.
I have tried the reset as well at various times to no avail, sorry to omit . This has been a thing for months .
I just remembered that the car had a clicking sound for a while when turning the wheel that went away (months ago) , but would be consistent with a piece broken off in there . So I'm looking at clocksprings on ebay and it looks like there's two types regarding the number of plugs . I would assume that since mine is a base , the fewer wired one would be me , but assumptions and all ...

May not be related to yours but i read it here a long time ago and it worked. My floor mat had lost the little clip so it could move around. mine had slid forward under the gas pedal and it caused this same error.
If this was bad I would think you would be seeing several issues. Years ago My Yaw sensor went bad and it in combination with your angle sensor is what enables you stability control. If hooked up to a star System you can see all that in seconds. Either one of those cause havoc My right front wheel breaking on the freeway for .5 seconds woke me up fast. jerked the steering wheel.
Hi Everyone. Been a long time Crossfire owner & member with a 2005 Convertible Limited with a SRT 6 engine and a 6 speed! Last fall while driving, the BAS/ ESP warning light came on the panel as well as the Brake warning light. To add to the problems, my convertible top will not function up or down and the wing is stuck in the up position. My brake lights also do not work. The car runs great for the exception of all the "Idiot lights" being on. I brought the Crossfire in to the dealer and after spending over $450 in researching the problem, they concluded that the steering angle sensor had gone bad which caused the RCM to also go bad. Their solution would also cost about $2,600 to repair. I told them Tank You for the trouble shooting and see you later! I have checked online for parts and they are not cheap and I'm not totally convinced if that is really the problem. Looking for help and a solution to all these issues.

Still surprises me long time members go to a dealership. PPL, come to the forum BEFORE going to ANY shop let alone a STEALERSHIP!

You need to have the code read before you just throw parts at it. It could be the ABS/BAS module, brake light switch, yaw sensor, clockspring etc.
While I understand what you're saying , the clockspring (if it's the right one) is $54 , The diagnostic to get the code read is $100 . If someone could tell me how may plugs it's supposed to have , that'd be great !
The crossfires have 12 plugs, two per cylinder. You can buy an RCM for a bit over $100,00 and it is plug and play, takes 5 minutes to swap. The steering angle sensor? has nothing to do with the RCM. Do a search of RCM on this site for lots of info. You can also do a search of sparkplugs to be sure you get the right ones or buy them from needswings.
Thank you all who responded. I'm the second owner to the X-Fire. The first owner apparently swapped out the regular engine and replaced it with the SRT engine. The six speed transmission with the SRT engine makes for an awesome combination. The only problem is how quickly it reaches redline. It is too bad that MB did not make that a combination from the factory. I bought the car from a dealer that did not know what the Crossfire was, which worked out for me and the dealer had no clue of the SRT engine under the hood. I did find paperwork in the glove compartment that the previous owner had sent the XFire to Ren Tech Motorsports in Florida to have the car fine tuned at a cost of over $8 K. So I have a great fun sport car, BUT I need to resolve the problem with all the idiot lights being on.and a non working wing and convertible top, and no brake lights! So looking for help to resolve this!
The brake light switch that is mentioned on line that can be the cause of the idiot lights going on is not the case as there is no brake light switch that connects to the brake pedal and activated by the pedal. To my surprise when I looked underneath where the pedals are located, there was no switch and no harness to connect to it, even though the parts manual shows that there is a switch. The brake light is activated by the pressure switch on the master cylinder.
I just put a used angle sensor in my steering. No more BAS ESP light.
same situation... Reset didnt do anything, no other lights on the dash.
