Default Does this look like an RCM Problem?

Hi everyone. First off I wanna say your input and advice over the last couple year has been helpful. Recently I experienced my car dying while slowing down, had to wait for it to cool down and it’d start right back up. No codes and given The camshaft sensor had never been replaced, did so and since then it died on me only once. But now at first try when turning it on,it stalls and backfires (I hear it by the exhaust) but will always start right back up. Checked all fuses and decided to take a look at the RCM module. I’m not much of a solder guy but the last connection seems a bit burnt. (Corresponds to air pump relay ). Any help would be appreciated!

Why change the camshaft sensor, they hardly ever fail. You must use a Bosch part as the others cause trouble.
Did you check for any trouble codes?

I got caught up reading about how camshaft sensors control the amount of fuel the engine gets and since it’s right there atop I gave it a try. I actually just grabbed one from Oreilly non OEM so I think you’re right with getting the Bosch one. Yes I had my mechanic scan the car with one of those expensive scanners. Unfortunately no codes or lights. Car has 94k. Dealer wants to charge 225$ for diAgnose

It looks and sounds like the RCM. Install a new one and send your old one to the gentleman on this forum that rebuilds them and keep it with you as a spare.

That sounds like a good option! Do you know the part number for the RCM?

The Crossfire number is A 170 545 05 05 however the same part is used in the Mercedes. Needwings and FPEURO sells them and also Ebay.

.

Amazon isn't the only supplier, and good research can find a better deal. Also, my experience with amazon is that sometimes you get returned or used parts as new. Let the buyer beware!

I second what Zracer said" It looks and sounds like the RCM. Install a new one and send your old one to the gentleman on this forum that rebuilds them and keep it with you as a spare."
Send it to tighed1 and it will be better than new. his work is better than the factory. if you do you will be happy.

Besides OEM, are there any other RCM that are recommended to buy? I’ve seen a couple different brands or companies that sell them. Thank you in advance
