Hello. I recently replaced the key fob shell on one of my keys due to the original shell being worn out. I replaced it using an Amazon replacement shell, and everything seemed to go smoothly. I put a new blank key in the fob when I tightened everything up, and the remote functions to lock and unlock the car worked just fine. However, I decided to swap in the original key into the fob so I could make sure the car started, but all of a sudden the remote would not work, and the car would not start. I made sure the transponder was in place, and I also flipped the batteries both ways to make sure it wasn't that. Now no matter what I do, the fob wont lock and unlock the car. My spare works just fine at locking and unlocking, as well as starting the car. Literally the only thing I swapped from the time it worked was a key blade. Could someone please help me out? Thank you very much.

Did you transfer the small chip from the original FOB?
Re: Replacement key fob shell breaks remote function
.
I am sure you made sure the chip is in place, so I will not mention that UNLESS you did not check to see if the chip fell out while installing the car key (or that chip is not in the correct place in the FOB case). THEN, make sure you get the red light on the FOB while holding the (any) button for a couple seconds. That'll tell you the batteries are installed correctly and the FOB is working. IF you do not get that, either the batteries are installed incorrectly, dead, or the contacts are not connecting correctly (some members have had the connectors bent or broken, preventing the flow of current to the FOB components). Then, you need to 'resync' the FOB to the car. Follow carefully the steps to resync the FOB. Come back after doing these things in the order listed. Good luck!
Re: Replacement key fob shell breaks remote function
Good news everyone! I bought new batteries this morning and opened the new fob once again. I noticed there was some light dirt on the battery contact points so I cleaned them off using 91% rubbing alcohol. I put in the new batteries and after pressing a button I saw the incredibly dim light flash! I followed the instructions of sticking the fob up to the rearview mirror and pressing a button and sure enough it now has control over my car. The car also starts up just fine with the new fob as well. I just used some Loctite universal glue to stick on the Chrysler logo, and also put some on the fob itself to keep it all together. Thank you everyone for the help and support! I really appreciate it.
