I have a 2005 XFire Coupe Limited with 86K miles that will NOT CRANK or START since last Friday. The key fob works correctly to unlock/lock doors and will allow the ignition switch to turn. All the dash lights come on and the windows/radio/electric engine fan runs (so I don't think it is the battery but will have it tested tonight). I DON'T hear the fuel pump start or any click noise from the starter either. RCM module was checked for relays and fuses and they seem all clean but I have not tested their function when the key is turned. Even tried the battery cable trick to ground the system and still won't crank. Read all the forum posts on what to look for but still need some help. Love the car a lot and hope to get it back up and running as soon as possible (daily driver). Could it be the starter, ECU, Ignition Switch, Crank Position Sensor, etc.? Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

 

You say the engine fan runs. Does it spin up REALLY fast when the key is turned to the ON position for more than 20 seconds?
If so, engine control relay in the RCM is not closing.

Yes the fan run extremely fast for awhile. I looked at the relays and they do move easily by finger. I should be able to test your thought by pulling the RCM board out of the box and see if the relay closes when the key is turned, correct? Is it worth having the battery tested? How long would it take to fix the RCM?

Probably the RCM solder... Just had to do this a few days ago, easy to fix.
