Oh man this is an old one!

Just go check the neighborhood kids bikes, you will find your valve stem caps!

That is the whole purpose of the spin-caps...they can't steal 'em, and I don't have to go looking for 'em. And, it wasn't happening at home (since the car is garaged) but in parking lots when out and about.

Just replaced the useless cup holder on my 04 Coupe ! 20 minutes and done ! I guess I was lucky, didn't have to disconnect any wiring, just simply flipped the console over once unbolted, removed the 4 torx screws on the cup holder and inserted the storage cup. Thanks for the post Danimal.

Doesn't look like much storage! Maybe a roll of lifesavers or ?

I just thought about covering it up with a solid dash kit! No cut-out for cupholder.

They will fix it if the car is under warranty. A TSB is not a recall or a safety campaign, so they do not have
to fix it once the warranty expires...

I had the cup holder replaced free under warranty when I had the tranny leak fixed. I mentioned the TSB and told them it would pop open on rough roads.

The storage bin holds coins, cell phone, IPod, wallet and more. Would be nicer if it had a sliding or rolling lid but it's much better then the cheesy cup holder the holds your drink in the perfect spot for you to knock over and spill on your nice seats.

I finally get to join the ranks of the broken cup holder club. I've got an appointment to take it to the dealer on Tuesday morning. I told the service manager on the phone that instead of another cup holder, I'd like the storage bin installed instead. He had no clue what I was talking about and said they would have to see "IT" before they could order any type of storage bin. I copied the exchange numbers that were posted earlier so they'll have something to go by. It should be interesting.

Interesting...I want to do just the opposite, I want to get the cup holder to install. Anyone have one they want to part with?

Good shopping. They charged me 51 bucks at the Palace of Aubur Hills Chrysler dealership and gave me a whole lot of attitude when i complained about it....

Switching Cupholder for Storage Bin been the best interior mod i ever done, even better than installing the rear speakers, real easy, just DW40 the Handbrake lever to slip of rubber cover....

Cheers.

UPDATE: They never charged me for it because it was discontinued.

Damnit. Anyone have one they want to get rid of? Or know who still sells them?

Thanks!

Am I wrong?

Wasn't the storage bin standard equipment on the base model XF? The cup holder is standard equipment on the XF Limited?

It's odd and ironic that the only complaint anyone has about the XF is that dang cup holder ... an upgrade to the base.

Lift the console up from the front and slide forward. Disconnect any electrical connections and completely remove the console. Lay the console upside down (on a towel) and remove 4 torx screws holding the cup holder in place. Reverse the removal process to reinstall the console.

The storage cup snaps into place from the top of the console and can be done before or after reinstalling it.

Hope that was somewhat clear...if not, let me know. You can email me at: danimalb@iwon.com.
Very helpful!

Kittens, your best bet is a trip to Walmart. For about $6 you can get one of these:

It slides down between the center console and the passenger seat, and works well, as long as your passenger is skinny. It will also fit in the pocket between the seats (rear bulkhead) but that position isn't to convenient for getting your drink while driving.

anyone ever find this?

Hi All,
I'm new to Crossfire and this forum. We just bought a '05 roadster in May and like it a lot I've been reading with interest the various threads on the dreaded cup holder. The one I have is stuck in the open position. Never had any trouble with it before but it won't budge. If I can get it down without too much fuss I promise I'll never use it again. Any help would be much appreciated.
