Cant clear "TPMS" DTC error
Ok, hopefully the brains on here have seen something similar and can help give me some idea how to resolve this issue.
Background: recently (within last 30 days) had the frickin relay control module go bad and installed a new one.
After that was done, car runs fine, but now have the TPMS light (blinks for a minute and then steady on)
I have a tablet set up as a DRB and can log into the vehicle. I have used this tablet to do the relearn procedure in the past with no issues after tire shop replaced the sensors last year.
When I do a module scan, it shows the TPM module (1935400445) but has an asterisk in the right hand column showing a DTC set.
When I actually pull the module up, it has a C8001 Training failed DTC under "active DTC" codes but nothing under stored DTC codes.
If I clear the DTC code the light starts flashing. If I quickly go back to read the active codes, it is clear for about 1 or 2 seconds, then the C8001 comes back.
The buttons on the module do operate the garage doors just fine!
Remote key entry works fine.
I can start the relearn procedure, but it fails as it never recognizes the front left sensor (or any other sensor as I have tried that just to verify it was not a sensor issue)
I am suspicious that it will not even actually start looking for a sensor with that DTC code set.
I have a Autel TPMS hand held, and can trigger each sensor, they all read fine for pressure, id and battery.
The tablet will do everything else I have tried (set clock, read other modules, clear any codes, reset service interval etc) just cannot get rid of that DTC code in the TPM module.
I know I can do the wiring mod to disable the light, but right now it is more of a challenge.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thanks
Just a quick update.
I figured it had to be the actual module, so I purchased a used one on eBay. Took out the courtesy light and plugged in the one from eBay one as a test. It programmed just fine and everything works fine.
Getting that old one out without damaging anything is a real exercise in patience!
