Default That little strap...

All,
I noticed today that there is a little web strap snapped to the back of the head rest of the passenger seat. Any idea what its for? The driver's side doesn't have one.

That, with the anchors in the bottom back of the seat, is part of the system for attaching a child seat.

Is it supposed to unclip, the little buttons on the side?

Yes, it's supposed to unsnap.

You want to pull it from the snaps though.......don't just pull it from the middle of the strap.

"Never yank in the middle, it's much more effective yanking the end!"

You can buy a repair kit for that at West Marine or any place that makes/repairs canvas. It will come with a pair of crimping tools and an assortment of anchors and buttons to help match.

Oooohhhh... after looking a bit closer-the same holds true, but it might require removal of the seat cover. Upholstery shop time?

The fabric itself isn't damaged, just the little connection between the button and where it goes on.

LOL, didn't quite catch that, just for the record as far as I know to "strap on" and a "strap-on" are two different things, I believe that little hyphen makes a big difference lol.

But seriously, can someone please help me put this back on.

Uh, yeah. Don't know that I'd want to be known as the local expert on the topic, ya know?

Please understand I'm just playing with you here.

And, well, that didn't sound quite right either, did it?

I know. The part in your fingers (picture!) has those little jagged bits in the middle? Those are/were crimped to the little flange inside the fabric on the headrest. If you look really close, you can see the thing.

Take it to an auto upholstry shop and ask them to look at it. Free. See what they say?

Just a suggestion, mind you.

Using a fine needle and thread you could sew the strap back in place then using a dabble of super glue to hold the top part of the snap in place on the strap?

Edit, Most Marine chandlers sell sail makers needles in a variety of shapes and sizes. The curved ones being most handy.
