You start off in 2nd or 3rd gear. Less gear reduction is less torque multiplication. More torque transmitted to the ground makes the wheels spin easier. Add spinning wheels to an already icy road......

You fill in the blank.

FYI Holeshot is a drag racing term and has a very specific meaning. Not burn rubber. When two opponents line up the person with the faster reaction time has a Holeshot advantage on his opponent.

For example in heads up drag racing two opponents one runs a

12.3 @ 113MPH with a reaction time of .223 seconds

the other a

12.5 @ 111MPH with a reaction time of .009 seconds

From the spectators point of view the car that ran a 12.5 launched first and made it to the finshline first even though his car ran a slower time in the 1/4 mile because he had a Holeshot.

Hope that clears it all up

Thumbs down Re: Burning Rubber

S= summer, W= winter starts auto in second gear.

If your stupid enough to want to spin your tires, then jack up the rear tire pressure to about 45-50 and have at it. Its your car and money so go for it and let us know what you would take for the parts that are left over.

Tribal knowledge says W starts the car in second gear to reduce spinning the tires. S starts off in first.
