Default TRANNY problems

don’t know if this is right but my tranny keeps getting lost off my car for some reason. for example, i’ll be driving on highway, then would wanna accelerate to pass someone then i hear a bang from the rear end. then as i press on the pedal no can go. i mean the car just revs but nothing else so i pull over wait a couple of minutes then the thing kicks in i can drive again.

what can it be ?
1 - the cold (i live in canada)
2 - tranny not warm enough
3 - defect from dealer
4 - anything else

i assume that other people are having similar problems i hope so i can know what they did...
thank you.

I had the same problem with my 05' SRT6. It is a serious problem that must be fixed soon at the dealership. If it hasn't happened already the check engine light should come on and signal something like "incorrect gear ratio." They can fix this in a day but you need to make sure it is covered on your warranty. It should be unless your car was one of the first ones made.

Hi,
Today i just had exactly the same problem as you have had. I lost the gear for a while only the rev's were going up. I had my x-fire in to the dealer in November for a gearbox modification. I was not told what they did but it was a factory recall thing...

I will call my dealer first thing on Monday!

As someone that went through the "losing gears, no acceleration" for more then 4 months (do a search under my name to read about it), the second dealer I went to was finally able to find the problem and it was the Transmission Control Module (TCM). Have your dealer check it out. Once mine was replaced, the problem went away and I have never experienced it again.

Good luck... its scary, I know.
