Never did find it . . .however I have changed the oil on my Crossfire . . . really don't trust the weanies at the dealership. It is rather straight forward, course you need to make sure you remove the belly pan under the engine first - in order to access the drain plug in the oil pan. Make sure whatever you are draining the oil into, can handle minimum of 8 or 9 litres !!! Once all that is drained, then replace the drain plug, ensuring that the gasket/seal is on the plug and in good condition. Then re-install the belly pan. I am sure that some would leave it off, but it is there to help smooth out the airflow under the car, as well as ensuring the cooling air is going thru the grille and radiator . . . . anyhow, on to the filter - up top ! Way easy to remove, replace the O rings (making sure to wet them with "new" engine oil) and install the oil filter on the holder and re-install in the engine. Fill her up with 0W-40 Mobil One Synthetic - according to MB & Chrysler, course you will need 8 liters ! Replace the oil fill cap, start her up and ensure you have no leaks . . . and away you go !

What could be simpler ?!?!? Up here in Canada, I have seen the oil on sale at Parts Source. Got my filter from the dealer . . .total cost for the oil change was $76.00 !! I did not even ASK what the dealer would want to do the oil change ! I have a Cummins Diesel that I have taken to the dealership (12liters of oil in the sump !) and it has been a $98.00 touch for the oil change !!!

Exactly right, a good explanation. Only issue I have is that I can not, for the life of me, reset the service indicator.....I tried the turning the key and the 10 second delay and turning again but to no avail.....ANYONE!!! I NEED help!!

I have heard that you can disconnect the battery before begining the oil change and reconnecting afterwards and the service light will never come on, is this true?

 

This is an old thread but I just wanted to share my first oil change experience, just in case a newbie like me comes along and needs help. The drain plug on my car didn't have a copper washer (thanks dad ) so I had to buy one from Advance. Came in a pack of fasteners/gaskets that was $5. The actual washer had a rubber ring around the inside, which I thought was pretty nifty and ingenious, so the seal is great. Oil filter O-rings were more of a p.i.t.a to get off than to put on. Dab them in new oil and they slide on great. Filling it up went great except for when my funnel tipped over. Hopefully it didn't get on any parts that get hot because I don't wanna be smoking I would also recommend comparing the oil level on the dipstick before and after the filling up to ensure the right level was achieved. All in all, it's an easy oil change once you have the hang of it. Thanks as always for the info guys. You are truly lifesavers when it comes to these cars.

 

HINT: Put the new oil in through the oil filter housing, then install the filter.
Hardly any drips this way.

 

Thought about doing that but was not sure if it would cause problems. Will definitely do it next time

 

The PDF says to pour the oil in the filter hole. I do and it is much easier.
