Trouble Starting !?!
Ok, so I have a '05 Coupe and this is the third time I've had issues with starting the car. The last two times (during warranty) the dealership has stated it was the battery and they replaced the battery with a new one. But this time I have no warranty, and I'm faced with the same issue. I took the battery to Auto Zone and the battery is charged fined. But cannot start the car. The engine does not turn but everything else comes on in the car, and the raditor fan turns on extremly loud.
Does anyone have a clue what could be wrong? Or has faced this problem with their crossfire?
Thanks.

I would check the wires that run to the starter it sounds like bad connection or the starter its self. It's just my guess but thats where I'd start if every thing else works.

My car is an auto. I was reading through threads and it seems others are going through a problem with a relay switch. So I'm going to look into that. My car has been acting funny lately and hesitating as I'm driving.
It could be a relay. The problem with cars today is you can spend all day trying to figure out whats wrong. I had a cougar before my XF it had every symptom of being a bad alternator but ended up being a relay.

What's really interesting about this is that I went to start my car today after many months in storage and the same thing happened. I've had a Battery Tender charger hooked up the the battery shows a full charge. All electrical systems work fine with the exception power to the starter. Turn the keyand nothing. Any ideas as to what relay it could be?

Search these forums for "Mystery No Start" and you'll find the solution. From one of my posts:
"Well, I think that we've finally solved the no start issue with my XF (knock on wood). This problem had been occurring for a couple of months and a few weeks ago the car stalled at a light and wouldn't start. In the end, a local dealer (Koons in Tysons Corner, VA) replaced the Relay Control Module. This module actually contains 4 control modules (including the fuel pump module) but is a single unit. Evidently a very easy fix in the end. You open the rectangular box next to the battery and the module is the part with the 40 amp fuse, 5 or 6 other fuses, and 4 or more connectors. You pop out this entire unit, disconnect all the connectors, pop it back in and close the box. Since I got my XF back on Monday, it's started every time and, maybe it's my imagination, but seems to be running better than ever."
Lots more detailed information in the entire thread. Good luck!

Thanks! I'm going to attempt to purchase the relay control switch this afternoon at the local dealership. Just called and the part is $270, ouch!
Hopefully this will fix the problem, because yesterday my car shut off at a red light in Tampa, Fl during rush hour and in the left lane! Needless to say it was a f*ing nightmare!

The price sounds correct. I swear my XF ran better "all around" after putting in the new relay module. I hope this solves the problem but remember that advice found here on the forum is worth what you pay for it. In my case, the advice was "priceless" since the shop was having such a hard time finding the cause of the problem.
