Default Hyundai Sonata Recalled for Sharp Door Trim

So the 2002-2003 Hyundai Sonata is being recalled for door pull trim that wears very sharply. Hyundai recalling over 91,000 Sonata sedans due to... sharp chrome door handles?!

It can be done! Please file a complaint with NHTSA regarding our cars that suffer a similar fate. www.nhtsa.gov

Since a TSB exists already, enough complaints could be enough to force Chrysler to fix our similar defects.

As much as I would like to fix mine, I think a recall may be the metaphorical straw that cripples Chrysler.

Are you talking about the interior chrome handles on our cars? There is a TSB for that?

My GF, fiance, or whatever I call her... cut her hand grabbing the handle when I scared her.

I thought she was joking, it's for real?

I cut my finger on the door handle on my friends Hyundai... and I noticed a "little" edge on my Xfi door handle, but nothing serious (yet)....

I don't think that can happen with them in bankruptcy.

You're Kidding Right??? What the heck are you talking about sharp door handles for? I never noticed this condition on my Crossfire!

If you have a problem with a sharp piece on your crossfire I suggest you be XTRA careful when you're near that piece, or you tape up the area instead of complaining to NHTSA for a trivial non life threatening thing like this!

God people Get a grip!

Lots of people have had the problem. That's why Chrysler issued a TSB. It's on the inside of the interior door handle. I have the problem on the driver's side but have learned to work aound it because I don't want to leave it at the dealer for the fix.

Haven't noticed anything on either car. I'm assuming it's right where the 'seam' of the handle is, correct?
Heck, I'd try sanding it gently or maybe even a couple of easy passes with a file would do the trick. After all, it's on the back of the handle, who'd ever notice?
If all else fails some clear tape would do the job........

^ You are correct about the location. I have learned to grab a different area, but it bothers me that there is a defect to the design.

A recall can definately happen with Chrysler in bankruptcy. They are still selling cars and are responsible for them. Maybe if they file Chapter 7...
