Doh!
DJ you're mistaken, when we drained my transmission fluid we drained the Torque converter as well. Your original post was correct when you included the torque converter part.

2 things,
1. it's a german car, not American
2. You're not getting 1/2 answers, you're just doing a half *** job researching.

This is not an American car, and you mentioned Japan again so I suggest you go to the Honda or Toyota forums for help.
I see now that a drain plug is mentioned in posts here and on the web re the NAG1 tranny. I can find no mention of it in the manual.
If Thirteen thinks I am arguing with him, I am not.
Some auto tranny's do not have a drain in the TC and so I wrongly assumed this was one of them.
Some 'brain' on one forum was going to drill, drain and then weld the T/C.

The crossfire is a piece of **** because you can't find the transmission drain plug that's located in the middle of the drain pan? Have you even looked under your car?

Go back to the first post of this thread and read it. All the answers are there.

You don't have a TC in your 04' automatic, yours is different. You need to take it to a Chrysler dealer for help. Most of us here have an 05' and later, and can't really help you, sorry. Good luck.

Here is the answer to your question, found in the first post of this thread.

I believe draining the torque converter may be to difficult for you to understand. I'm sure you won't read this though and will just complain that we're just giving you half the answer.
BTW if you want to drain the torque converter you can find instructions for that in post 26 of this thread. I really don't know how to make it any clearer for you.

I use a punch and hammer. After I'm done I make a patch with JB Weld (great stuff) You have to hit it pretty hard but you don't want to dent the pan, just punch the hole. Good luck with it, too bad 04's don't have the drain plug, so don't bother looking. You could put on a MB pan that has plugs for right and left handed mechanics. Gotta love those arian engineers!

For those who have questions about the $20 qt that chrysler wants to charge you for Trans fluid--check up

The product that states Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is a synthetic blend that meets the GM DexronIII, DexronIII-H specification, Mercon, MerconV, Chrysler ATF+3 and ATF+4, the new Mobil1 ATF will meet the same exact requirements as well. Mobil1 ATF and Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF are two different products (meets the same requirements but, Mobil1 ATF is a full synthetic and Mobil Multi-Vehicle ATF is a synthetic blend).

Mobil 1 ATF $9.19 a Qt---- Compaired to Chryslers $20 a Qt Mopar ATF 4

I bought a single qt of Mopar AFT+4 at the dealer for $7.80 before tax last month. They even said they would give me a discount if I wanted to buy a case of 12.

That's because it's not the Sprinter/Crossfire fluid. The Crossfire fluid is # 5127382AB and it's $20.00 a quart. They gave you # 5013457AA.

Guess I should not have trusted the dealer to give me the right one.

Anyone know if 1/2 a quart of that other ATF will do any harm? Should I drain and refill with correct fluid.
