Default Can't get in to my car :(

Greetings from Poland! I am happy owner of the '04 Coupe. Have exactly the same problem as "srtwindsor" in https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...et-my-car.html, but I didn't see an actual solution to the problem. Should I call for a locksmith? From what I have read, after opening the car and charging the battery with a booster, I should lock it and open it with a remote to prevent an alarm to go off before starting a car? All help and tips are greatly appreciated!

Try the tennis ball trick:

Now, but seriously, how can I get to my car? If that would be that simple like in this video (which is a total bs btw), my car wouldn't stand for 5 seconds in Poland

I would think if your battery is dead, you won't have to worry about your alarm. Even if it does go off after you use the key to open the door, just hit the red button on the remote to turn the alarm off.

If you have a vacuum leak in the air line for the locks, the key will still work.

Well the video is not total BS, but only works it you locked the car manually and not with the keyfob.

Is your battery definately dead? Unlock the car manually, pop the bonnet (hood) and disconnect the battery and reconnect. Then use the remote to dissarm the alarm/immobiliser. This somehow resets the central locking/alarm/immobiliser and allows you to enter and start the car as normal.

This has happened to me.

Just to follow up on my stiuation: dead battery, key doesn't open a door and...

So I called for a locksmith who opened my car in 5 sec (scary), but as we say in Poland "bad luck walks in pairs" when I tried to pop the hood, a line broke (that's what I thought at first). So now, I have a car with a dead battery and can't get to the battery to jump start it. I have called my Chrysler dealer, but suprise, suprise didn't have idea how to help me. Thank God, locksmith noticed two screws that were holding a hood lock to a car, and suggested to unscrew those two and see what happens. I have unscrewed those two screws and opened a hood with an entire lock. Ends up that a link that opens a hood slipped from the hood opening mechanism and didn't break, as I though at a first place. I have jumped started my x-fire and took him for a long drive, plus changed all regular maintenace parts at the dealership. Which gave me an opportunity (with pleasure) to tell those guys that they have no idea about cars they service (and told what I did to get and start my car).

I think this is a good solution to worst case scenario, where you can't get to the car with a dead battery plus you can't open a hood.

Thank you again everyone for your input.

speaking of that, not being able to get in the car, I picked the Cross up the other night from storage, and had both keys with me. when I got home from work yesterday, I went in the house and when I came both doors were locked again, by themselves as we talked about before. I had that sinking feeling that I had left both keys in it by mistake, forgetting that it will do that FOR MY PROTECTION!!!!! As it turned out, by habit I did take the key out as I exited the car, but the other one was inside in a bag I had taken with me to get the car.

So what I was thinking, like the issue in this thread, has anyone come up with a solution for the time that does happen, without resorting to a locksmith? A wire someplace to push the pin, or adding another wire to the hood latch to get the hood open and maybe jump the door lock actuators or something like that?

A homeowners solution would I think be a great workaround if something like that were to happen, or am I just being optimistic here, and there's nothing practical to do but call a locksmith?

You can try to use air pump wedge. Cost around $20. Just stick it between you side window and frame, pump it and wait for a space large enough to stick wire through it. Or you can unscrew those two screws that hold hood lock, like I did in my case.
