Default Battery time

OK, the service life of my battery on the 2006 roadster is over. And taking it out of storage proves it.
SO, what is the latest skinny on the best best battery for replacement.

No, I don't wish to use the search feature. But thanks for asking.

Personally, I like the Deka 9AGM48 from East Penn battery.

$149.00 from Search Results : Tri-State Battery Warehouse

The bimmer forum says they do free shipping, but I don't see that on the web site.

I went with a Bosch 96 month several years back and have been happy with with it. If you're looking for weight savings it may not be the one for you. I see them on sale now and then for $99 + core.

I replaced the original Varta with an Interstate brand battery. The link below is a newer model than mine and has greater cranking power. There was a sale at Firestone and did a cash and carry. At that time I believe it was about $110.
I have been satisfied with the battery over the past two years.

I am a fan of interstate batteries for along time. 'causethey seem to last a long time. thanks DTmenace

And thanks to others as well.

I'm likely selling the roadster this year, so I prefer to go with the lower priced unit.

You drive on it every day or keep it plugged in or anything? How long can you go between driving without losing the charge?

She was my daily driver until I got the SRT. Now the wifey drives her about every other day and she usually sits all weekend. The dry cells usually have a pretty good retainment when not being used. I have the same type battery on my Vulcan 1500 and it has sat for 3 weeks at a time and would then fire right up. Coarse there's nothing on the bike to drain the bat like the car does. I've even seen where they have been mounted behind the passenger seat freeing up the space for a Killer Chiller tank, Meth, NOX or what ever your flavor. They are totally maint. free and spill proof and can even be mounted upside down!

At one time they were good enough that Rob was carrying them @ Needswings, but I don't see them there anymore. Been meaning to ask Rob if there was a reason why. He even used to sell a custom LED pad made specifically for this battery...

They are probably more popular with the racers because of the huge weight savings, but it has been no problem at all replacing the heavy OEM Varta. I put a thick rubber pad under it and use a nylon strap with hooks on the ends that are made for marine batteries to hold it in place.

And as a testiment to how good it's been, the car has cranked up perfectly since new!

Mine have both died. Went to a Braille for the coupe and a full size interstate for the roadster. Too many electrical hiccups

Ya Doc, these might not be that great for the SRTs, with the problems I've seen with the over volting/speeding the alternators when pulley mods are done.
On the Limited I also replaced every lamp with LEDs and HID headlights to drop the voltage suckage. Might be why I've gotten such great longevity.

Thanks, I was considering getting that one eventually but I now have a beater car got commuting and won't necessarily drive the Crossfire everyday but sounds like that might not be a problem

When it comes to batteries you just cannot beat a battery with lots of lead in it when it gets cold.

Lead = Power.

These little batteries may be OK in the warm climates but they pack 1/3 the power of a battery suitable for cold climates.

If you want to save weight, go on a diet.

Dave is correct. The little guys are for racing not everyday driving especially in a cold climate. The little guys won't last as long either. 3 yrs is a record.

Well the stellar battery is one of the best hoaxes I have seen, the attention to detail was outstanding . The paper work the packaging wow. I did recognize the green base a industrial electrical component possibly from a motor control center. Of corse what gave it away was the words in English LINE as in line load on the base , And the CSA stamp on the terminal lugs .I suspect that the buss style battery's are made of BX or something similar .i am in total Awe
Cheers
