Default Sticky Key Fix, Alternative???

You guys may not need to take you dash apart to fix this issue

My ignition was getting very bad, it would some times take literally 2-5mins to start my car (wiggling the wheel and key)

I spoke to my Dad about the issue, and he pulled some ancient stuff out the garage call "powered graphite" and "silicon spray" (I don't recall the brands the stuff was really old, I call him and ask what brands they where later today)

To make a long story after putting in the "powered graphite" and a quite liberal dosing of the silicon spray in the ignition I no longer have the issue

This may not work for everyone but it is worth a try

I also found that if you push the key all way in and use a little pressure from your thumb to make sure the key is full inserted, it turns really easy

What you are describing sounds like a sluggish cylinder. I used light machine oil on mine and yes, it does help.

HOWEVER....
The fix we describe here is for when the secondary lock mechanism freezes up, this is not in the cylinder, it's in the arm that the wheel lock plunger is.
When it freezes up, you'll know it! Fix it now, or risk drilling out the damn pin later...

Our fix should be called the "STUCK Key Fix".
