Default Code Puller

Could anyone please tell me if this item on ebay is the thing you need to pull fault codes and if so where does the code show, is it on this item of does it show up on the dash when this is connected. Also will this work on my 2006 coupe. Thanks

Thanks, I might order one then as I am always reading "what are the codes" and I assume without this you can't get the fault codes.

To answer some of the other questions - usb interface so it will hook up to and display on your notebook - if that's what your using.. and they have the free software to go with it. I bought one with a screen readout built in originally. Then I found out about Torque Pro and the blue tooth plug in module. Total cost was about $20.

If you have an Android based phone for the Torque Pro program ($5).. this is what you would need.. No wires and you can just leave it hooked up and also see your cars performance etc.

Your screen one sounds better, do you know where you got it, maybe i would be better to go for that type bearing in mind I am in Oz so postage maybe a concern.

I use mine all the time (blue tooth) just to see things are still in the "normal" range of what I've been seeing. There are some code reader programs for Iphone from what I've heard. That should have you fixed up.. and wireless..

I am no expert here but this appears to be Windows based and would not be compatible with an iPhone. But what do I know anyway.

You know enough to make that statement, and you are correct, sir.
To get a OBDII / BT / Iphone setup, it's gonna cost ya around $100.

Please don't tell my blue tooth OBDII reader that came with windows software it's not supposed to pair up and talk to my android phone!

And please post that pic of an Iphone with a cd reader!

Android is one thing, IPhone is a horse of a different color.
I wasn't ( and I don't think 180 was ) warning about the winders software specifically, just what the el cheapo OBDII BT's would link up with.

LOL.. I'd wager anything else that does blue tooth.. The biggest problem might be the Iphone's program.. But as noted some people are using Iphone based programs with engine code software. Of course you could always pick up an old used Android based phone for a song and dance.. That's where I started.

Thats even better, as I have an iPhone and there doesn't seem to be one that works with them for a low cost or without buying another phone, I think I might go for this cheaper one that I can connect to my laptop. I would prefer a wireless bluetooth for my iPhone but unless someone knows different I might need to stick with the laptop version. Thanks everyone for the feedback its been very informative.

Then there is always the UltraGuage option :
$78.90 with a windshield mount + $27.00 for shipping downunder

UltraGauge OBDII Scan tool & Information Center

Very nice but I think I would be off put by reading the gauge all the time when driving. One that I can use when I have a problem for codes may suit me better, just a pain to connect to laptop when I have an iPhone in my pocket.

This is certainly cheaper, but you'll end up buying the other one in the end, as this one will not work on a Chrysler.

Blimey, it's called the same and has the same number so that nearly fooled me. So you suggest the first one I posted.
