6 sp trans problem

Every car made should be covered under it. Just tell your dealership you're having the problem and they should fix it. If they don't call up Chrysler and complain.

You can also check your build date, a tag on the inside drivers door. Cars with the possible 1st gear issue will have build dates prior to Dec 31, 2003.
I've had my syncro's replaced because it wouldn't go into 1st or 2nd gear. now it is doing the same thing as well as popping out of 1st.a lot more now than before. Mercedes put the M6 on the back burner to try and put maximum effort towards their automatics.
Take it in and tell them it pops out of first gear. Doesn't matter if there's a TSB or not, your vehicle has a defect and they'll fix it.
I've been in for the problem twice. First time was a new tranny, the second was an adjustment that they didn't want to do. I told them to do it, they claimed they didn't, but the car is much, much better now.

Does anyone have problems engaging the car into 1st and 2nd? and reverse? I have always had problems with 1st and the shift to 2nd, and now lately the car won't engage in reverse right away. But of course when i take it to the dealership the shop manager says, its the best feeling 6 speed that he has been in. He only shifted the car through the gears while it was parked. But it seems once power is going to the wheels the tranny sux.
My dealer test drive to determine if I wanted a 6 speed or auto made it easy for me to go with the auto. The 6 speed was a bear. It just doesn't shift smoothly or have a positive feel.
It is amazing to me that a European car company would build cars with such a weak transmission/shifter. This is especially surprising as most European cars have a manual transmission. However, the auto transmission is entirely different. It has a "performance" feel compared to the typical American auto.
