Default Unusual odometer reading

My XF has just a shade under 52K miles, but after the car starts, the odometer temporally switches to 36.5K.

Might this have been the last time the car was serviced? Or...that it missed this service?

If I was a billionaire I'd have the local Chrysler dealer go through the inspection drill. At least the parts guys are pretty helpful.

Do a reset and see if that stops it.
Now, just remember that the mileage given before your next oil change will no longer be accurate when you do this, but I trust you know when it was last changed anyway, right?

RESETTING THE FSS MAINTENANCE INDICATOR AFTER AN OIL CHANGE

1 Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position

2 Within 4 seconds of moving the ignition switch into the
“RUN” position, press the reset button for the trip odometer
twice within one second The display for the FSS service
request is activated for 10 seconds

3 During the 10 seconds the FSS service request is displayed,
move the ignition switch to the “OFF” position
The FSS service request will continue to be displayed

4 Press the reset button for the trip odometer and
hold

5 Move the ignition switch to the “RUN” position

6 Continue to press and hold the reset button for the trip
odometer (about 10 seconds) until the audible signal
sounds and the new start distance appears in the display
The tool symbol should disappear at this time

You might also try disconnecting the battery for about a minute.
But in any event, I can't imagine what it means.

Wait...........
It doesn't say -36500 does it?
If so, then what it is, is the FSS has not been rest in a LONG time - so reset it.

Are you sure it is 36500 and not 3650, if so it could be the FSS.

Default Unusual odometer reading

I have not a clue when the last oil/filter change took place, but assumed I'll get the warning light when it is due.

Actually I would have changed it by now though I've only put about 900 miles on the car since it arrived. I'm more than a bit nervous regarding my floor jack in that I'm not sure if it is really up to lifting the car. I've now lifted the left side several times, but immediately put a jack stand under the side jack point.

So back to my temporary odometer reading: Actually it says 36400 briefly. No open end wrench icon has popped up. My first 'to do' icon popped up yesterday telling me I have a low pressure tire. Thank you icon.

I don't mean to sound ungrateful for the replies, I really appreciate them, but for me the 36400 is just a curiosity - unless it really is information I need to attend to.

Who knows? If it's just a blip in the display, don't worry about it.

I jack the car up slightly, but use my hydraulic jack I got at OrRielly's for $20. But you can use the one that came with the car.
If you have a low profile drain pan, you may not need to lift the car at all, the plug is right up front.

Well, I don't have the plastic guard in place - tossed it aside two years ago.....

Again we have to ask why?
The benefits are well known.
