[QUOTE=onehundred80;934665]Thanks, I just have to do the painting on the two versions and install version two.[/QUOTE
What paint color are you going to use? I was always curious if the glossy and satin finishes were the same color but just different finishes. It seems there hasn’t been an exact paint color given for the consoles. On the SRT6 website it says unknown. I just had my outside trim, strakes and door handles painted and the shop said they used MB 518 single toner fine silver. It’s hard to see if it matches the inside though because the outside is glossy but my inside is satin

I have used Duplicolor CBCC0410 Bright Silver Metallic (PS2), it is initially too shiny for 2005 model years and up but when it was really dry I knocked the finish back with a light rub down with a fine wet and dry paper used with water. This is OK on flat surfaces but rubbing down sharply curved surfaces would be a bad idea. I am satisfied with this colour.
I want to use a semi-gloss clear coat if I can find it. There is a matte Duplicolor clear coat I am looking for. I may end up painting the hinged lid of the console and cup holder (bin) bezel to match the other parts and use a gloss clear coat on it all.
There is a Mercedes silver said to be a good match but have not found it and so I have no comment on it, maybe it's this number Duplicolor 604881, Mercedes 744 LS2.
Other colours mentioned Duplicolor Star Bright NH638M and Testors Model Silver, a Wurth wheel paint was mentioned but is said to be filled with aluminium flakes that are too large.

I started this project in November 2017 and I am still far from finished, I have to put another coat of U/coat on the HU bezel as it needed some filling, U/coat the gear shift bezel, put on the finish coat to both, add the passenger airbag transfer to the gear shift bezel and add a clear coat to both.
The transfer added to a paint chip I made.

Nice job on the transfer Dave, was it difficult to make?
Laser printed on clear transfer paper, that particular transfer rubbed off because I was playing around to see how it could be moved into place to line it up properly so the glue was almost gone. Another one stayed on just fine, they will need at least one coat of clear coat.
Transfers done on colour printers need to be clear coated before wetting to prevent the ink running.
The edges of the transfer ideally need to cut with the transfer on the bed of the guillotine as the other cut edge gets slightly delaminated. The delaminated edge was very slight but was visible, the transfer film is .0008 thick so under a clear coat the edge may not be visible. The use of a pair of sharp scissors might be best, the same rule applying.
The transfer still on the backing paper laid on the gear shift bezel. A dry run so to speak.

The saga continues, I am having trouble matching the OEM finish and colour. I now have seven cans of silver paint and all are poor matches. The search goes on.

I am hanging on every word Sir, I had just ordered a single din radio and will be canceling it and going this route. Please let us know when the color is found and when I can buy the version 2 for my SRT-6. Amazing work sir, I am impressed. I really want to change the look of my interior and may go with a darker color. I am searching ebay not for a set to use and retire the items in the car along with a few other things.

Good Day Sir,
GG in Tn
I gave up looking for a perfect paint match. So I used DupliColor PS2 and DupliColor matte top coat. I painted all the plastic parts from the upper vent to the bulkhead. I even added transfers printed on my laser jet printer to replace the ones lost.

Shortening the console switch wires that were originally required to be longer for my Mk1 Double Din installation. They will be a few inches longer than the OEM wires, they will all be soldered joints insulated with shrink tubing. Ala_xfire gave me heck for not doing this the first time around.
That makes 64 wire ends to strip, 32 joints to twist, solder and shrink tube onto. I am a quarter of the way there.

That was when I was fitting the wire extensions of different gauges, they are all fitted and soldered now. Shrink tube is cut, on the wire and will be positioned and shrunk on tomorrow. It got dark and started to rain which gave me an excuse to quit and come inside.
The plan was that it would all be done by yesterday with the console in and the head unit fitted.
I am thinking about the gold tinge to the paint on the top AC vent, if I paint it again it will have eight coats on it. Maybe I’ll let it slide or now and see how it looks in real life. I think it was the clear coat.
Edit
I repainted it and it looks good.
All the painted parts were lightly rubbed down with worn out 600 grit Wet and Dry, I stayed away from sharp or rounded edges in case I wore through the topcoat.

Thank you, I started this project in November 2017 with the Mk1. version which had the buttons in the coffee cup holder bezel.
The Mk1 version shown fitted and ready for painting, which never got finished. It was undercoated later before I changed to the design of the one-piece bezel.
This version is now fitted in bluecoupe’s NA.
The one piece bezel was harder to do and Covid got in the way of finding the correct paint and I slowed down. I decided I was not going to get a great colour match and decided to paint all the console pieces with the same rattle can colour, DupliColor PS2. I also used DupliColor, adhesion promoter, undercoat and matte clear coat. The rectangular piece of trim around the gear shifter is the OEM colour, I never modified any of the original parts, they are all kept aside with the OEM Nav radio. They wanted too much for the rectangular part on eBay ($60 to $80 plus shipping) so I am waiting for something reasonably priced.
I made the three transfers on my laser printer, they were then covered in at least two layers of a matte clear coat and lightly rubbed down.
All in all I am satisfied with it, maybe I will touch up the little faults I can see, maybe not.
Now to fix my blower problem in the heater/AC system.😟
Edit
This was solved very simply with a new heater fan resistor.
