Default Hub center rings measure

Sometimes when I mount off and on the wheels I afterwards could get vibrations when driving at higher speeds. They are correct balanced and I suspect that the hub center rings are bad or of wrong size.

Some documentation from when I investigated this:

Bad center rings can get the wheel a little bit off center and cause vibration at higher speeds.

The photo showing the use of a micrometer used backwards shows why you get a smaller measurement.
The flat part of the micrometer does not touch the curved surface of the wheel bore.
Use a inside micrometer or old fashioned inside callipers and carefully measure them with a vernier.

I wish I had all the tools I need, but living in a flat limits the number of tools.

Still I think this worked fine, the micro meter is not flat at the ends. I got 73.2, 73.1 looks to be a common standard. Ordered new hub center rings this evening.

That sounds about the same problem as I have. I ordered new Hub Center Rings of correct size, but it failed to be delivered. I tried to found new ones nearby where I live, but instead I got the information that some people 3D pritend them. I have test printed one ring, but it's to cold to do some work on the car now. Look et the bottom of this page and I have collected some information:

I got some problem with this. I changed from my earlier 10 mm spacers to 5 mm. These thin spacer didn't have any hub and I have to center them in someway. I had they mounted earlier and then I center them direct with my fingers, the wheel was centered with the ordinary hub ring.

But now when I have my 3D-printer, why not made the hub rings that fit perfect by myselfe ?

Have a look at page three:

But better to buy new ones, I just was curious and wanted to do some test.

the factory hub is 66.56 that is the OD of the hub,,now you need the Id of the wheel you are installing .
Most of the Mercedes from 1994 to 2011 ,,2011 is where my book stops has the same hub 66.56.

Hi,
Yes this was a bit strange, I saw he diameters: 66.5 mm, 66.6 mm and sometimes the 66.56 mm. I couldn't find out which was correct and I thought that Merecedes who is a Germany company can't used any other than SI units. But now I know, thanks for the help, I have corrected the text on my page.

I also changed the layout a bit to make it easier to moving around the pages.

I have now printed the second hub ring and will go down to the garage and mount it today. Tomorrow a ride out in the sunshine now when the snow is gone. Happy life !
