Default Dashboard cluster alarm?

Hi, I had a alarm that kept going off so a mechanic came and took the dashboard cluster away saying that the module in there was causing the issue. Now he says all the modules need sending away for repair and the price went up from £1200 to £3000 plus. Could the cluster be the issue?

Sounds like the alarm siren that is under the cowl in front of the windshield. The internal batteries start leaking as they age and shorting out the circuit board causing it to go off. You can unplug it or replace it. I know of no alarms behind the dashboard cluster. You need a new mechanic.

Your mechanic is the problem, pay him a visit with some of your friends, the tougher looking the better.
When I was younger my friend had some trouble with what a neighbour claimed was damage to his car caused by my friend, he went to see the guy with four of his buddies and made the guy believe him.
No rough stuff, no threats, the guy figured my pal for a patsy, he had never hit the guys parked car anyway. Amazing what a few extra bodies will do.
