Vehicle Tax Disc
Both the road tax a whopping £400.00 is due June and also the insurance at the same time around £350.00. If its one's daily drive its not so bad, but as a second car and hardly used, its bites a bit more. But it won't stop me having a Xfire to use as and when.
Jane and I are holidaying in the USA towards the end of this year and have (with much help fron SilverFox) will be attending and driving the Tail of the Dragon run with other Xfire owners. Lots of info and great pictures available to view.
See you all in July...UK owners. October..for ToD.

I look forward to meeting you both in October, and thanks for making the T-of-D meet an international event.
I hope you can find a Crossfire (or SLK?) to rent, but we will still welcome you if you show up on a bicycle.
We do not have a road use tax here in NC, but, unlike most states, they do hit us up for property tax every year.

Hi Jeff .. Yes its October not July, getting the UK & US dates confused. Closer to the time I will inquire about vehicle availablity and obviously a Xfire is my first choose and as mentioned the SLK my second. SilverFox has also offered to assist in locating the correct vehicle. I will have a word with Andrew and perhaps we could rebadge an SLK just for the ToD run!!
We have friends in Chattanooga to visit after the ToD meet. It will be lovely to meet you and other Xfire owners and after viewing the pictures etc from the last ToD meet we can't wait to run the route. We plan to stay on a few extra days at the Lodge, as the location is fantastic.
See you there

A thought...I wonder if any of us UK Xfire owners fancy arranging a long week end run to France ths year, perhaps just to Brittany or Normandy, no great driving distances and there are lots of reasonable ways to reach France, Euro tunnel etc, and plenty of B&B's or well priced hotels..perhaps this is something we could chat about over a pint at the July meet.
Cheers

Count me in Ken!
Normandy is ideal, lots of nice places, either on coast or inland - - do you wish to start a thread and see what happens
Cheers Steve

Well Steve and I are up for it.
Any interest from other UK Xfire owners in arranging a long weekend trip to France this year? Would be grand to see a line of Xfires traveling together. There is masses of cheap accommodation and perhaps a discount deal for groups at some hotels. There are also some interesting places to visit along the French coast and some of the beers are not bad either! .If interested leave a note on this post and we will take it from there.
Cheers

I'd love to see the look on the rental agents face if you return the SLK rebadged.

Seriously, leave Dudley area around 7AM, get home around midnight. 650 miles round trip but I use the PT Cruiser not the crossfire due to being able to take passengers and have enormous boot space. We do Eurotunnel as it is fast and maximises our time.
I have also done the run up to Bruges a couple of times, lovely city and an hour or so from Eurotunnel straight up the motorway. Very easy for a midweek or weekend break. There are a lot of options across the channel that are surprisingly accessible.
