Default Couple of questions from a new owner

Hi All,

Had my crossfire for a couple of weeks and loving it. I've already done the 'bang for buck mod' on the stereo, well worth the £4 from maplins.

Anyway could anyone help out. My Xfire has a little red push button in the roof trim next to where the buttons are for gate/garage buttons. If I press it it illuminates for about 2 seconds then goes off. I've pulled back the trim and confirmed my thoughts that its something to do with the alarm system, its wired as below:

wiring loom < ----[box1]----[box2]-----[alarm sensor 1]

[box2|-------[alarm sensor 2]

[box1]----------[red button]

sorry if this is not a good diagram but I cant tab out the white space to make my diagram work, basically box 2 has both the interior motion sensors attached and box 1 has box 2 relayed off it and the red button.

there are no part numbers or serial numbers on the boxes (about 1.5"x 3.5" each) so google pretty much dead ended me there.

Any ideas appreciated I just don't want to start pressing it lots to find its function in case it immobilises the car!

Second one for you, I've never had a V6 before, I've never had anything over a 1.6 before so you can imagine my constant grin at the moment. When I'm idiling every so often I get a little 'jiggle' from the engine, I've read people on the forums suggesting new iridium sparks for a rough idle, it doesnt feel rough but I have nothing to compare it to. ideas?

Cheears all, and I hope to make a meet at some point soon. I'm in the guildford area so if anyone is near by drop me a line, I did see another areo blue (but softy) in Bisley (just down the road from me) only the 3rd I've seen I think.

Jamie

Hi Jamie ,

Sorry but no luck with the red light , this question came up at the 3rd Xfire meet & draw a blank , how old & how many miles has your Xfire done , the plugs should be good for about 100k but it could be the age of the plugs .
do you know the service history . i'm sure other will chip in on this subject .
keep an eye out for up & coming meets .

Cheers & Welcome

Andy

cheers for the quick response, its driving me nuts a red button, that lights up! you just want to push it lots!!!

Its an 04 coupe 16,5k on the clock fsh no plug changes. The last owner had no idea that the button was even there. I tried contacting the original dealer, kings in bristol but they were less than helpful to say the least....

"this question came up at the 3rd Xfire meet & draw a blank"
Does this mean other people have the red light then? Lets start a secret red light button owners alliance :P

Cheers,

Jamie

Ahh! yes the cup holder - well, a much mailigned feature of the car by those who just dont appreciate its innovative, complex, yet beautifull design. Apart from that, its completely useless of course. Just think, in a hundred years these cupholders will be valuable antiques and people will gaze at them and wonder what they were used for Steve

Hi Steve uk / Jamie

we could start a sub-clan , xfire cupholders users , but it could just come down to the have & have nots , Infor for Jamie only the first Xfires have cupholders not sure what year they stopped ,but the newer xfire just have a slot very boring .

Cheers

Andy

I have trawled these forums quite extensivly, and tbh I'm amazed why chrysler subbed the extremely over engineer cup holder for a tiny little storage bin. I would have personally kept with the completetly overengineered (sorry for repeating my self) but usless cup holddr...... kinda reminds me of this red button I have in the ceiling of my Xfire..... :P

Hi.

Isn't there some thing about this on page 51/52 of the owners manual. Its to reset the factory coding to open a garage door.

The buttons in the that the manual refers to are the 3 little black ones in front of my red button. I'm pretty sure it has to do with disabling the internal sensors as its linked to them kind of but I dont want to just start mashing it an disable the whole system.

Cheers,

Jamie

It doesn't look original to me - if it is it's surprisingly "geeky" given the rest of the car's interior design. Did you buy the car new, or was it used? Maybe the previous owner had it fitted.

"May be its a quick release for the cup hold " LOL

The previous owners told me they hadn't even noticed it was there and I tried calling the original dealer who weren't even willing to check their install logs

If I get time I'll pull out the rest of the wiring and post another piccy.

All the best ,

jamie

Hi Paul.

No, its a factory fit. Mine has it to. If you press it, it lights up for a few seconds. And that's it.

It's your Chameleon Circuit. Press it, and the car disguises itself as a Mini. Or a Y reg Ford Fiesta.
