On Track Procedure:
1) If you want to try it, attempt a burnout in the water patch under the tower when the start line is clear of the previous pairing. This will help warm and clean the tyres.
2) Roll up to the start line slowly when the starter beckons you forward. Try and stay roughly level with your opponent.
3) As your front wheels reach the start line, a pair of orange bulbs will light on your side of the starting "tree" This means you are "pre-staged" and you are just inches away from being in the right position.
4) Roll forward a fraction more, and another pair of orange bulbs will light below the first pair. This means that you are in the right starting position.
5) When both you and your opponent have all staging lights lit, you are ready to go, so lift you engine revs, and get ready to drop the clutch..the starting tree lights will flash orange and then immediately green. Now is the time to GO! GO! GO!
6) Don't worry if you mess it up- the starting official will help you do the right thing. keep an eye on him for direction.
7) You can collect your timing slip from the signing on office. There is no charge for collecting your print-outs.
5 RWYB Tips for a great ET:
Avoid wheel spin on the run.
Avoid hitting the rev-limiter.
Change gear as smoothly and quickly as possible.
Race on a warm, but not hot engine.
Remember to take the handbrake off!!!

Info..Have contacted Santa Pod and been informed..that unless 110 mph is exceeded then wearing a halmet is not needed...I'm sure our Xfire's won't reach 110 mph in a 1/4 mile..unless Stevieb has really turned his Xfire!!
Should you feeel happier wearing a cash helmet..then open face one's are also acceptable....I could wear my old white peaked helmet from my bantam days!..for the very young amoungst us..a bantam was/is a motor bike..not a farm animal!

Are yes the bantam, but very small eggs
Hmm - interesting how this thread started off with the subject of car sprinting at Santa Pod - and ends up talking about (BSA) Bantam eggs?
So for especially for Jon, heres a nice pic of some hatching Eggs from Bantam Cochin & D'Uccle Chickens Spring 2009.

Back on topic - I presume there will be a meeting time/place for this? As I said, I won’t be taking part in my car this time, so I suspect I’ll be using a car park for spectators.
Keeping hopeful for decent weather.

Its difficult to know how busy it will be but parking as near as poss to the enterance is prob favourite, and to bag a good spot in the stands for the action, and for photography. I reckon a packed lunch and flask of coffee is a safe bet.

Hi Paul,
I expect Ken and I will be parked in the collection area where cars wait for their turn to go up the strip. We will be either waiting with the cars or just a few yards away watching the action from the viewing area. You can get right up to the launch area for photos. Take a look at the layout on Google Earth, you can see it in detail.

Hi Paul..I'm also looking forward to my first Santa Pod visit.
Its good to know that there is enought to see and do even if one decides not to take their car on the strip...As its only you driving in a straight line
its safer here than driving on a normal road or motorway.
Lets hope a few more of us Xfire owners turn up to watch or take part.
Cheers

We have decieded to cancel this meet - Due to low numbers and the expected poor weather it will not be viable to run this meet. A shame, as it is the first one that has not gone ahead. Its not a good time of year to get folks together for an event like this, which may account for general lack of feedback.
Now looking forward to the Xmas lunch, and a nice run out, as my car not turned a wheel in three weeks!
