Hi Zukie,
When I first bought my Crossfire it was a bit of a compromise due to personal circumstances and it drove a "bit flat" didn't have the response I would have liked. It seemed to get more responsive after I had driven it a few weeks and then I found out about the learning throttle that adapts to your driving style. This is when I really started enjoying the car and realised I had bought a much better car than I realised and am now really happy with it.
The problem with the learning throttle approach is that with any significant motorway or town traffic driving it will assume "sedate" driving style, softening the throttle response. The manual throttle reset, which it sounds like you have tried, temporarily eliminates this problem.
I have also been researching "what next" and my conclusion is that I am going for a Sprint Booster which sounds like it just sharpens up the response, reducing the softer approach to the throttle a bit like a "sport" button on other cars. I am just about to order one from ebay for £157 and got an e-mail yesterday from the seller confirming the model and that it is in stock. It also doesn't affect the warranty which is an important consideration for me.
I'm not sure what transmission you have , mine is an auto.

I believe some Crossfires TC's are more sensitive than others, and my 04, 6 spd. was extremely sensitive. On at least 3 different occasions in 3 years it almost got me "t-boned" when I was trying to pull out in front of on coming traffic. Even though I had plenty of time to complete the manuver safetly, just because the rear tires spun ever so slightly I was left adrift among converging traffic. Not a good feeling.
I finally said enough, and disconected the TC, and it's never interfered with any of my driving since.
I'm not advocating that anybody else should do what I did, but I've owned nearly 100 cars and never had it on any other car, and I feel safe with out it on my Crossfire. It should be understood, my Crossfire is usually only driven on flat dry paved roads, during the spring summer and fall, and only in the rain when it's caught out in it by accident.
Hi All
Could this be down to the make of tires on the rear end , Giving you different levels of grip on different types of road surfaces . I have an 04 manual Xfire & only if i push hard on damp road will the T/C kick in , Never in the dry ,
Cheers

No mate I dont think it was the traction control because the throttle reset seems to have sorted the problem

Thanks for the information in your other post my coupe is a auto. Have you instauled the sprint booster as yet and if so how is it
ok problem sorted.
Next then would be whats new i suppose.
The sprint booster is good but will not give you any performance gains, so i would firstly concentrate on a remap and CAI.
Steve
PS
If you want a remap pm me for prices etc.

Paul (Beeblebrox) You will love the S.B, I noticed a smother and faster gear change...Post your findings once fitted.
Hope you can make the first meet of 2009...and a good time to start taking pictures for our 2010 calendar.
Cheers

When finished with the SB install remember to use the Throttle Reset Procedure.
Throttle reset procedure.
1. turn key to "on" (not start)
2. push the gas pedal to the floor and hold it there
3. wait 20 seconds then turn the key off
4. wait 20 more seconds and let off the gas pedal.
5. wait for at least 2 minutes for the drive-by-wire throttle to do it's reset procedure.

thanks Maxcichon.
I have read the instructions for fitting and it talks about removing the accelerator pedal, but US chums are saying it is easier to remove the panel next to the pedal, now as they drive on the wrong side of the road this doesn't directly translate to our cars as this would be a different panel. I did a couple of searches and couldn't spot anything from this side of the pond. Can someone reccomend the best method for fitting to a RHD vehicle ?

hiya beeblebrox,
I didn't remove the pedal, you can use your fingers or a piece of coat hanger to pull the wire through then disconnect the plug and connect the sprint booster then just thread the cable back in.

after a bit of a fiddle ( and a phone call to "Steve - UK", thanks Steve ) I fitted the Sprint Booster without removing anything. Did the throttle reset and went for a spin. I think it turns it into the car it should have been, a much sportier response and gets rid of that Mercedes "make it all soft for luxury saloons drivers" approach. It also seems to have changed the exhaust note , sounds like someone sneaked in a V8 when I wasn't looking. Possibly a bit of a handful if you aren't prepared for it, or into that style of driving. Ideally you could switch it on and off with a button. I don't think Anne will drive the car now !!
Definitely a good purchase, loads of fun, came back with a big smile on my face

So glad you are pleased with the sprint booster was it just a case of fiddling to get at the wires or was there more to do. I am looking to go the same way many thanks
