Default Tyres - recomendations

HI,
I am seeing two names of tyres kicking around here. One is Goodyear, and the other is Toyo. I will be honest and admit that I have not heard of the latter until recently, but they do seem to be mentioned here a lot, and their prices seem to be around the Goodyear mark.

So, before I book up some new fronts for mine, what’s good about Toyo tyres? I’m not looking on spending bank-busting amounts on tyres - my benchmark is Goodyear F1s, and Toyo have tyres that fall in that price bracket. Just keen to know if there is some magic spark in Toyo that I should know about.

I feel that whatever goes on the front will end up on the back as well, so I’m making a long term decision for all 4 wheels. What are the panel’s thoughts?

Hi,

Put the Egle F1's on the rear of our roadster and they are great but!!

If you look at the profile the tyres although they are 255's, when they are inlated they appear to slope outwards from the tread to the rim (narrow tread?). If I had the chance to choose my tyres again I would go for 275's on the back so they would sit square from the rim and put more rubber onto the road, having said this the tyres grip very well in all conditions so no issues with the tyre performance.

Can't comment on the front tyres yet, just hoping that these wear out soon so I can replace them with F1's.

Had Toyo Proxy's on our BMW Mini but these allowed the car to pitch when the car became loaded going into a corner, a little scary.

Alan.

Ps, Anyone else seen this with the F1's?

Hi Paul,

When i purchased my car the tyres on the rears were and still are Nangkang NS2. The grip in both dry and wet conditions is great with no problems during cornering or braking. Tyre wear is also very good mine have been on for 2 years now and my car IS a daily driver.

Now the good bit!
The price cant be beaten.NANKANG TYRES / CAR / NANKANG NS2 NANKANG NS 2 - 255/35R19 96Y XL TL :: £87.20 :: Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres :: R19" - 255/35/19, 255/35 R 19 ::

Honestly you wont be disapointed

Steve

oh yes the fronts
NANKANG TYRES / CAR / NANKANG NS2 NANKANG NS 2 - 225/40R18 92W XL :: £48.20 :: Car Tyres - MPV Tyres - People Carrier Tyres :: R18" - 225/40/18, 225/40 R 18 ::

sorry I forgot

ps

If I hadn't tried these tyres out I would never recommend them as I have never bought budget tyres for any of my previous cars and as I told you these were the tyres on the car when I purchased it, but I honestly think they are great and will have no problems what so ever in replacing them with the same.
