enhancements
Have just become the proud owner of a 54 roadster. I'm sure I will love it but as with all my catrs after a few months I want to 'make it mine'. Any help on where I go for styling/performance upgrades
Thanks for any advice

Yep they did - 54 was registered in the second half of 2004. Mine is 55 plate!
Hi Foxy this thread didnt take long before going off topic. The first thing I did was get rid of the factory fitted radio. I installed a panasonic system which incorporated sat nav, ipod connection and telephone operation. The phone mike was placed near the rear view mirror. The ipod wiring was fed into the glove compartment whilst the satnav is hidden nicely near the cd opening. It emerges with the touch of a button. For me this was the first enhancement and so far the last.
Thanks for the welcomes. I wish we had a '54 roadster. Anyway have searched around a bit and can only seem to find American sites. Nothing really on Ebay either. Would have liked an ipod connection. Hey we only pick it up on Saturday so guess we need to enjoy it as standard first before playing around
I wash mine from time to time. That makes for an improvement. Folk here will recall me turning up at Billings with bits of straw still plastered all over it from the previous week’s adventures.
I keep meaning to replace the stereo for one that accepts iPods, but other more important stuff keeps on getting in the way
I have added some Karmann badges and decals, just to give the manufacturers of the car some credit. They used to give them away for free - I’m not sure if they still do this now.

Hi, just catching up on the forum. I also have an aero blue Roadster. I have an illuminated wind deflector ( see my pictures ) which also makes it much warmer, Rotex gold pads to reduce brake dust ( those big front wheels need lots of cleaning ) and am this week haveing a "diffuser" fitted and rear parking sensors as with the difficulty of getting spares at the moment until Chrysler sort that out and not being able to see much out of the back with the roof up thought that would make my life easier ! I will be posting some updated pics when my car is returned next week.

Re: parking sensors. This is next on my (very long
) list of things I'd like to get done on my car. Has anybody used or heard of a company called Dolphin?
They have a web site:
Parking Sensors fitted to Mercedes SLK
Also, does anyone know of a stereo/sat nav with ipod connection in silver? I've searched and searched.....

I searched high and low for a silver one - never found one and ended up with a black one - and it looks naf really!
Let us know how you get on with parking sensors, the lady who is buying my Crossfire wants them fitted and I told I would look out for something. The key thing is to get them with colour coded sensors on the rear bumper

The Dolphin company sell matt black which you can paint yourself - I thought I'd get those and order some paint from the dealers. I need to touch up one or two stone chips anyway so.... Think I'll plump for these. £79 for 2 front and 4 rear plus £175 for fitting if you want but I'll ask my autoelectrician for a quote first. They give you the tool to cut out the holes so if you're brave you can do it yourself. I shall let you know how it turns out! As for silver stereos - Alpine do a nice one and Clarion too but no sat nav poppy out screen. My search continues.
