Just looking over that, it looks like it is just a limited roadster with Startech parts added. It doesn't look like it has the actual engine conversion that Startech was doing. IMO, if it did it would have pictures of the engine, and also have a much higher price tag.

I would definitely not buy this one sight unseen just because I haven't seen the engine.

Those wheels do looks pretty good though.

EDIT: Those also don't like 19"/20" rims on the car.

Even if it's not the real Mcoy, it has all the Startech accessories including the interior so for the price its advertised at I'd say its the bargain of the century.

The owner may not know how rare these are especially the accessories its loaded with. A Coupe Startech sold in the UK last year for less than this one.

I completely agree that this is a great deal, even if you just want to strip the Startech parts the turn around and sell the rest of the car...Great deal.

The thing that bugged me was it saying it was a demo car. That seems to be a bit misleading, as I don't see Startech creating a demo car to show off their products without going the whole nine yards including the engine swap.

...although I guess it could be a 'dealer' demo car, with the startech stuff added, but that still seems a bit fishy.

Z,

with Houston and New Jersey in the mix-you'd NEVER be able to handle a right-drive car!

This is the genuine baby sister to my car that was used for promotional purposes alongside my car. I spoke to the guy who is selling this car for his brother this morning and if I had the money I would have jumped on this one so I have the matching pair. So let's hope my lottery numbers come up this weekend he.he. I wish
.
He said it has a standard 3.2 V6 and has all the startech accessories on it. From what I am aware my car is the only 3.8 S in the Uk
and that's according to Chrysler UK and startech in Germany who I have personally spoken to.
But this roadster was also used with my car to promote the accessories as you will see from the promotional picture that Chrysler did back then. Both numberplates matchup with my car and his. Mine top left of the picture and that's the 3.8 S.
Apparently it's had around three owners and the present owner has basically stored the car for the last three years and not done many miles since he bought the car according to the gentleman I spoke to this morning. I could not get no more information at the time because the guy was at work but I did leave him my number in case he needs any assistance in any way.
I did suggest for him to put some photographs of the engine bay and clarify that it's not a 3.8 conversion as he will get inundated with questions regarding that .
as I am well aware there are people out there to pick on your car as its happened to me a few times saying my car is not a genuine startech 3.8s whether this is jealousy at times who knows. The car I bought was openly for sale on the Internet and I paid the money end of story
originally I was looking for a roadster in blue and then this 3.8 S came up and because of how rare it is I grabbed it with both hands but somebody has to stick up for us rare few fortunate startech owners.

I have invited him to join the forum so anybody interested could speak to him directly whether he will?

As Mark says, this car is the little sister to his 3.8S. Its amazing that this cat too has surfaced again and it would be great to get them together once more a photo. This one was left as standard under the bonnet, but had the Startech trim added. The engine conversion was so expensive I suppose Chrysler UK could only afford the one which Mark now owns!

Hi im the owner of the startech crossfire,i didn't have a clue about how rare this car was till i spoke to mark, when i bought this car,i just thought i was buying a crossfire with some extra's then to find out that this car is a one off!! It was bought off a man in marlow and he didnt mention anything to me about it either?? but when i was looking at pictures on the net and came across pictures of my car sat next to another crossfire in some sort of feature!! i was quite shocked to see the reg showing!! so i contacted the person in germany and asked them to remove my reg from the picture and he actually told me the picture was everywhere and there was no point so i didnt bother taken any action and now im glad i didnt because the proof is there that the reg in the picture matches my car! if this car doesn't sell within the next month il be putting the price up just because of all this bizzare interest in it,so grab yourself a bargain

I can't believe there's not been much interest in this car on this forum. I would have thought any new people or regulars looking to upgrade looking on here for a crossfire would have grabbed this one by now especially paying the standard car price with all these accessories on.

Its too expensive Mark, for its age and miles it would be at least 2K less. The extras are nice but don't add value to a used car. For this price you can buy a 2006/2007 car with much less mileage.

I agree you have a good point Steve as I have just looked on the auto Trader in which I have not been on lately. as for last year I lived on their looking at crossfire, xk, and Maserati.
I did not know that the convertibles had dropped that much I wish it would have been like that this time last year as it was a convertible I preferred.

I saw the standard cars dropping last year but this is probably due to the traders not shifting many of these cars enabling them to buy them in cheap and then pass on at cheaper prices which doesn't help the resale value for people like us. But the collector or somebody that wants one of these special cars to cherish. Money isn't the issue for them so much and that's the sort of buyer we should look for if we ever sell.

I didn't think they could get much lower than last year but they're still plummeting down. looking back now I wished I would have bought another xk8 convertible because that's what the original plan was way before the crossfire came into my head. but there dropping to but the convertible is holding its prices slightly better. But I kept thinking about the crossfire and needed to try one like you do .but I must admit I'm really miss my xk convertible and do regard it as the best car I've owned.

But I would never compare the Jag to the crossfire as that would be totally unfair to both cars as they are too totally different beasts in their own right. Please don't think I am putting down the crossfire .I do love my car and its fun to drive but it's just for me something is missing but after driving Jaguars for years now that is probably not helped matters as it's not that I've gone from your normal day-to-day runabout to the crossfire.

But there's no way I will ever give my car away at a ridiculous price I'd sooner let it rot away before I give it away and at the present I would probably want a lot more than I paid for it because of the rarity of the car. But I suppose it's because I've lost thousands of pounds on cars having them on loans, contract lease, etc etc and nothing to show for it at the end and I'm glad that I was so so fortunate to have paid cash out right for my crossfire and not having interest to pay on loans which makes it worse even more when you decide to sell losing even more and I know we're not all in that position to pay out right and we have to use other means of getting our toys. But in my case I've tried the other and now it's a great feeling knowing I don't own a bean on my car.

Let's hope the crossfire will become a collectors piece like the E- type and we all will get our money back.

I would have been interested if it was a coupe. However, mine is newer and has alot less mileage so would have been a backwards move, albiet with some rare wheels and interior trim.

If you're not in a hurry to sell I would stick to your guns as much as you can. Of course people will tell you they can get a newer and lower mileage car for the same money that's true and the way things are going you will be able to buy an SRT 6 for the same money soon and probably can now if you look hard enough .

but the handful of Startech show cars that were prepared in Germany by Startech personally whatever spec and wherever they ended up all over the world are rarer than all other crossfires and deserve respect

extras alone cost a fortune as I have the original price list here -- four wheels at the time cost around £3000, pounds, exhaust £2.500 leather steering wheel £500, carbon centre console £1600, plus gear stick, foot plates, carpets, grill, fins, bumper mouldings, etc etc etc.
So probably £10,000 worth.
I hope it all works out for you lucky but don't be sucked in by people wanting something for nothing
