Steve..A great second edition. The wee xfire on the start of each section is a nice touch.

The xfire items for sale/wanted was an excellent idea. And another added benifit for xfire owners visiting www.ukcrossfires.co.uk and viewing the newsletter.

Ken.

As I was fitting new number plates having changed the registration number, thought it would be good to include a bit of advertising for UK Crossfires. When getting plates made you can have any wording down at the bottom, so this seemed obvious!

Nice to have a newsletter and know whats happening.
Will get to see some of you at the Christmas Dinner. Don't think we can make the Chiltern meet

Love the advertising on your new plate. Wish I had thought of that when I changed mine this week

Steve, www.ukcrossfires.co.uk looks good on the plate..but is not totally legal.

I had a problem with my earlier xfire V6 AXF. I was pulled over by the law and informed...UKKen on the bottom of the plate was illegal, and it needed to be the suppliers name, post code and BS mark, to be used on the road.

I was really incensed when when it happened, as you see some totally outrageous number plates being used.

Don't mean o be a party pooper...just for info.

Ken

Hi Ken

Yes Im aware of this, I reckon half the plates on the road are not correct. My last plate again was not legal as it had no spaces between digits, but passed the MOT ok twice. On my new plates, the makers name and BS number is printed on the back for some reason! I think that as the reg number is laid out as per regs, its unlikely to attract the Feds

The DVLC was originally just a licencing authority, and also warned the motorist about the penalties for misrepresenting regestration numbers. My, how things have changed.

That was until the government took a close look at the private sector retailing number plates, and the huge sums being paid for certain numbers..

And now (DVLC) are the leaders of the pack. And rather than just issue reg numbers as needed to the motor trade, now all the numbers are pre checked, by a special computer department to ensure nothing of vaule slips through their money grabbing fingers.

No more serious talk about the pentalites for missuse of reg numbers...just a little mention with the transfer letter, on the lines of...do not rearrange reg numbers..just to cover their backs.

DVLC are well aware that most of the reg numbers that can be altered, will be changed, but greed is now greater than the letter of the law.

Grumpy Ken..
