Default Centre dash controls & vent...How to remove?

Instructions needed, as I don't want to damage anything...

Once off can I view/handle the screen demister pipes?

Or if I remove the glove box..can I access them this route..

Hardly any air exiting the screen vents .. should be much more..any other thoughts re this problem. All other air vents working corectly with either hot or cold air.

I guess it could be a faulty dash directional switch, next to the graduated fan control switch which is working to max

As mentioned in another post. with the hourly at Chrysler/Mercedes main dealer of £110 P/H I would like to be able to fix the fault myself.

Have fixed the screen demister problem myself.

Directional switch has two flexable rods on the rear, that are ment to be conected to switching linkage that slects the air vent postions...they were not connected..... once refitted all is well....Its good to be able to demist the front screen!!

A very happy UKKen.....plus my three weeks with the current dreaded Flu
Bug seems to be at an end..thank goodness.

Well done Ken, you did well to sort that yourself - with time and patience we can over come - and not put the £££ in the dealers pocket! Glad you're feeling better!

Happy New Year

As a very new XF owner I was very interested to read your initial post UKKen.

I have now spent approx 2 hours overall trying to demist the windows, mainly the rear window. I have followed all the recomendations in the Owners Maunual but to no avail.

I have sat in the car with the engine running twiddling with the fan, heater, a/c controls etc but still cannot clear condensation from the rear window. Even the side windows seem to take ages to de mist. Running the a/c constantly helps a little but doesn't solve the problem. Driving with the windows down slightly to move the air around a bit more doesn't seem to help either.

I was surprised that there doesn't seem to be much force [even with the fan on HIGH] behind the air blowing up the screen or from the various vents. Do you think I could have the same problem that you had or have some sort of blockage somewhere?

Any ideas/advice gratefully received but, unlike you clever chaps, I'll have to take my car to a garage to get it fixed, as I'm not able to do it myself. Oh well, I'll just have to keep doing the Lottery to pay for it all.
