Default New Tyres Plz Help !!!

Hi,

I live in the UK and have Michelin PS2, I now need to change my tryes as they are getting worn out. I had a look for the same ones, and have been quoted £270 per rear tyre and £170 per front, can someone please recommend and other good brands out there. As getting all 4 fitted will cost a huge amount of money for me, totalling £880!

I do around 6 thousands miles per year mostly from and back to work, so I am looking for tyres which will be good in summer and the wet wintery months.

Many Many thanks

N.K

I just had new tyres fitted today. After much discussion and research I decided to go for Falken F452. I paid £529 fitted for all four tyres. I decided to "upgrade" the rears to 275x35x19 rather than the standard 255x35x19.

www.blackcircles.co.uk use local franchise outlets, I used them initially then dealt directly with my local tyre place. I did get a quote from kwik Fit and they only do the main makes and quoted £1,200 for Michelins !!!

Only thing is I had to wait 4 weeks for the rear tyres there were none in the country ! 30 tyres at the 275 size arrived last weekend, and I have two of them on my car So be quick if you decide to go for them. Mind you the fronts appear to be in short supply now

That is what I decided anyway, hope that helps.

Thanks Paul, I'm really confused in what to. I Just want to keep my original sizes as I don't know much about getting bigger tyres or what they do. How long have you had your new tryes and your Crossfire. Right now I'm just in real shock at one cost of a ''Michelin Pilot Sport'' rear tyre at £270 for one.

This is my second Crossfire, so around 4 years for the two cars ands around 50,000 Crossfire miles ! Only had the Falkens this morning ! Done about 50 miles on them. Steve Uk has some experience of such things. There is an article from Steve about tyres in the September newsletter on the UK Crossfires web site here :

Falken FK452 for me as well.
I also only do 6000 miles a year and the fronts are still going strong after about 12,000 miles. The rears only lasted for about 8000 although i used to drive foot hard down everywhere. The replacements still look like new after 4000 miles now i drive more gently.I am running slighty bigger wheels, with the front tyres 235/35/19 at £140ea. and the rears 255/30/20 at £160ea. For the price you cannot go wrong and there are alot of good reviews for these.

Me thinks we should be on commission from Falken FK452!

But yes - the best tyre around for the XF for both performance and price. I have (like Paul) 275's on the rear, and strangely enough, these are a little cheaper than the narrower standard 255's. I ve done around 4500 miles on mine and no noticeable signs of wear yet
I'm seriously thinking of getting a set to store away while the price is so good!

Just replaced all 4 tyres here with Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta, standard sizes. Very impressed so far with handling and amazed by the noise reduction compared to the old Michelins. Good prices if you shop around and can find someone who has them in stock.

Thumbs up Re: New Tyres Plz Help !!!

Hi,
Have orderd a new set of wheels ..OXIGINS.. for my srt-6 but have gone with 19`on the front and 20`on the rear have done a bit of research on what tires to go for and also decided on Vredestein Ultrac Sessanta as the price is good and they seem to to get a good write up ...if you go for new tires on your Crossfire i can recommend going up to 275s on the rear as they look better i think and add more of a rim protection for your wheel, also you dont have a problem with rubbing as i had these on my previous Crossfire.

HI Nk

Do a web search on mytires.co.uk or could be mytyres.co.uk , They have some good prices & delivery to your home or a local tyre fitter . Just had four new tyres (no not for a crossfire) .

Cheers

Andy

Try www.Camskill.co.uk, I find that they are really competative and I get all of my tyres from here.

Normally I come to an arrangement with a local tyre fitting garage and have the tyres delivered directly to the garage. Costs between £10 and £20 per tyre to have them fitted and it still works out cheaper than having your local garage supply and fit them.

Costs around £5 for delivery next day but that's nothing in the scheme of things.

255/35/19" Falkens - £153 including VAT.
275/35/19" Falkens - £141 including VAT - wider and cheaper!

Alan.

I did lots of review reading and decided on KUMHO KU31 ECSTA SPORT, stock sizes.
They're slightly wider lipped than the conti's so sit slightly proud of the alloy lip rather than on it.
So far done 3000 miles on them and more than pleased with them. I will say that they feel more comfortable on our seriously bad roads and provide plenty of grip in both dry and wet.
Bought through Camskill @ 116.30 each rear and 77.00 each front, local tyre fitter charged £70 for balancing and fitting.
I'd never used an online tyre dealer before but was impressed with their service. Ordered on Tuesday night, delivered Thursday morning.

Glad Camskill worked out for you, I have always found them to be very cheap and easy to deal with.
