Stereo Install - Please help
Hi Everyone :-)
I have owned my crossfire for about a year now and love every minute of it. Unfortunately the only thing i do not like is the stereo head unit. Lately its been not playing my cds and makes a weird clicking sound. It also doesnt want to give me my cds back unless i give it a whack. This is a perfect time for me to get a new headunit. I have my eye on a sony cdx-f7750s. I used to have one in my old car and it was great and because its silver it will also complimemt the dash. I cant find much info on installing a new headunit. I came across a few posts but it involved connecting different wires etc. Now as im lazy that seems to much like hard work
What i want is a wiring harnes that i can plug the new head unit straight into the cars connectors. There seems to be quite a few around but when digging deeper it appears that they wont work due to the car having an amp etc. I found a site that has a harness that uses rca connectors so the stereo runs through the amp so the sub and speakers all work. Is this the right connector. Link ---- Parts for 2005 CHRYSLER CROSSFIRE - photos, charts and more installer.com it is the harness call the alt harness.
So what i want to know is:
1: will the sony head unit fit in the crossfire
2: the head unit says it has rca inputs outs at 4v, is that enough?
3: is the harness the correct one, if not do you kmow of one?
4: as you can see the harnes is from a USA site, so will the connectors be the same as the UK fittings. Yes dumb question i know
I would really really appreciate your guidance on this.
Thanks again

You will need these three things :
Car Selector
I'm not exactly sure the wiring harness is the correct one, you had best give them a call about your Sony model before ordering.
I had installed a Sony Sony CDXGT54UIW in my 2005 Roadster prior to the Alpine I currently have, but I sold it to maxcichon for his son's use in a Lincoln. he will still have the harness.
PM him and see if he will send it to you.
( you will still need the antenna adapter and the removal tools )
O, and do the door speaker capacitor mod ( maxcichon has those too )

After the deck is installed I would not do the capacitor mod (like I did), its better but you should just wire it correctly. Get ahold of the amp, cut and splice wires in from the Sub inputs to the deck rears. I just did this and it is sooooo much better. I attached the diagram I made/edited to do this easily. The schematics will help in trying to figure out what wires are what when you hook up the deck also. Im not one to use a harness, I like just splicing in wires to make an extension of said wires (even though I do have a harness currently), the harness is just bulky and a pain to deal with IMHO, and I have never used one before...
Thanks for all your help guys, im just waiting for my headunit to arrive. Im sure ill get stuck setting it up so ill be back on here anyway
