Wish I had couple grand to spare
Waylander.
I see from your posts that you have had a few American cars.
Would you trust a 70's Corvette or camaro for reliability as a daily driver here in the UK??
I have always wanted a American car (especialy of the 2 I have mentioned) but it would have to be my daily driver as I dont have space to keep one as a toy.
Whats your opinion.

Oh wow a whole can of worms there!! Fully maintained I suspect a 70s 'Vette or f-body (Camaro/TransAm) could be ok however they are now over 30 years old and as such my not be up to the daily grind of a commute etc. The other thing to bear in mind is that as nice as they look they are (and drive like) old cars which could be an issue and don't even talk about mpgs as IIRC they'll struggle to beat 20mpg (imperial) at virtually any time. If it were my money I'd try for a 3rd gen f-body (semi-modern) or 4th gen 'vette - both early 80s onwards, mpgs on these are far better with low 30s on a run in the f-bodies and similar for the 'vettes and obviously the newer you go the (potentially) more reliable you are. Bottom line as with any classic if it were my only drive I'd be loathe to trust it, if I were able to get a lock-up somewhere then I'd consider it or start looking at newer ones. Pop along to the NASC meeting bank holiday sunday if you're near Ipswich as there;ll be lloads of yanks there are well as rods etc which'll give you a chance to have a look and a chat with owners who aren't looking to sell and therefore, maybe, a little more hinest with their view on a given car's foibles
