Default Servicing

Hi

does anyone have a good garage service in Hampshire area - I keep looking - I was recommended to a Mercedes independent locally - popped in and asked how much for a simple oil & filter change as done 5K since service - response "only do mercedes" - it's a R170 rebodied the engine id same - "I'll check with owner" he appeared "don't do Crossfire can't read codes no cross ref on parts different running gear" er I only want an oil & filter change - "I'll check and ring you"
Strangely its now been 2 days and nothing - makes me wonder how good they are - if put reg number in Europarts it gives filter and Mobil 1 is erm Mobil 1 without having to cross refer. If F1 Autocentres & Halfords can do it I would have though a Merc specialist could

Anyway any ideas out there or will I have to go to a Chrysler Stealer or I could I suppose use the same garage as the supplying dealer in Southampton did last year.

Why not do it yourself, save some money and the satisfaction that you did it yourself.

To be honest the Crossfire is just about the simplest car to do an Oil and filter change on because of the filter position.

Who was the suppling dealer? as I'm fairly local (fareham) and have used a few garages in Southampton.

There are many options open to you. For me a good local garage who's hourly rate is resonable...pop into a few and check them out ..Main dearlers will charge you the earth..Not a lot to do. on xfires...mainly Oil & Filter, the plugs good for 100.000 miles, many of us owners do our own servicing. Check out this site for all servicing info and also www.ukcrossfires.co.uk for serviciing related items.

Contact www.ukcrossfires.co.uk on line and receive a monthly news letter..its a good group of uk crossfire owners and no membership fee to join the group.

Good luck and welcome to the xfire fold.

UKKen.

Hi

the supplying dealer was Avenue Cars and they had the servicing done by Stag Gates Garage - both Southampton who I may well use.

I have registered a couple of times on the site since original Feb 2012- yet to get a news letter. Have been to a few meets as well never seen anything from those either - the meet at Heritage Motor Centre was supposed to have photo's posted but I have yet to see anything

Re oil and filter change - its a very easy job to DIY it, but otherwise drive it into a Halfords service bay and they will do it all in ten minutes for about £70. They have the car listed in their data.
We have checked in the UK Crossfires email history and find nothing from you. Please go to the contact page and remember to tick the box that asks if you wish to be added to the mailing list. The first news letter for 2013 is due out imenently, we are just finalising some meet details Cheers Steve

Steve, I've never received anything either and I've tried registering at least twice. I did mention it in a post some time ago but it got ignored.

Rob just to clarify - this american forum has no conection with UK Crossfire Group. The responses you get when folks post responses in here come from this forum in accordance with your settings. Yes, you should recieve a welcome letter from UKC shortly and your name and email address added to the UKC mailing list to enable yopu to recieve the quarterly news letter, information and updates on meets etc. Please contact me personally 07954 685044 (stephen.walsh@ntlworld.com) if any other probs, I'm here to help and very anxious to deal with any problems, thanks Steve

Hi Dal I assume you made contact via the UKC website contact Page, can I ask you to please do this again and I will personally ensure this is dealt with. Please contact me personally on 07954 685044 and stephen.walsh@ntlworld.com if any further difficulties. Just to clarify that this forum is nothing to do with UK Crossfires so posting here in this forum is no guarrantee that anyone from UKC will see it - indeed I only dip in now and again. Please accept my apologies on behalf of UKC for this

not jumping in but to be honest steve i come on here most days as it is a forum to interact with other owners and rarely check on ukcrossfires as it dos`nt change very often and once you`ve read whats on there thats it !! its not like you can chat to other uk owners on there or post that you are attending meets thats why i dont bother looking much, all of the interaction between uk owners happens on .org....just my opinion...chris

Yep totally agree Chris, thats the difference between "live" forums and "static" websites I supose. The club website was not updated much last year with new articles or meet reports etc and is in dire need of some new articles. Websites quickly become stagnant without new stuff. The UKC website realy need its members to do a lot more to contribute artices as one person cant do it all lol. As you know I wasnt involved in running things last year having had to duck out due to new work pressures, so now Im dead keen to get things back on track, see you soon and say hi to Linda

Big county Hampshire! Which town do you live in? Did you not intend to use one of the two garages you mentioned in your resent post.
