Unhappy Help please ?

I have a 55 plate Roadster. Took her out for the first time after storing her in a nice warm dry garage over the winter. At the appointed speed the rear spoiler started to deploy but only partially. I then noticed that the spoiler switch on the lower dash was flashing a red light. On reaching 90mph the warning beeper sounded, and would only stop of I dropped my speed. When I stopped I could only get the spoiler to detract after I had turned off the ignition and the turned the ignition back on. With the car stationary I operated the spoiler using the switch and it is only partially deploying. It lowers OK using the switch. Any ideas / suggestions on this? Seems electronic problem may be the cause, but should I take it to a Merc dealer and let them hook it up to diagnostics? Or find a local Crossfire specialist? Any help would be much appreciated.

might just need some good old WD40
the light and beeper is just to let you know the spoiler is not fully up.

post your area, someone will probably be able to point you in the direction of a good shop should it be needed.

The wing motor operates via limit switch... if the switch is on its way out, it can prematurely "stop" the wing at a lower height. There's a chance the shop can source a new limit switch and install, but if that doesn't work you might need a new assembly. To my knowledge, the components of the wing assembly are not separately serviceable.

Where is the limit switch situated? And how do I recognise it? I have no workshop manual that tells me this! The manual I downloaded via this forum only seems to have specific details of wiring and how to test components, but doesn't say where parts are !

Perfect so am I, if all else fails give Terry a call at Mid Kent Chrysler 01634 819774, he will be happy to give you advise over the phone. They are right by Rochester Airport if you need to take the car in.

They look after all my Crossfires, very reasonable rates

When you remove the drive assembly (the black base plate with the armatures attached) you'll see the wing motor and you'll see two limit switches... an upper, and a lower. When the wing reaches its top position, it will strike the upper limit switch, stopping the motor. Same for the lower (that's how the wing knows to "stop" when you're lowering it).

I'm asking the folks at Webasto for specs on the drive assembly... they're one of my suppliers for Nissan.
