ECU issues and Needs Programming - Help Needed!! (Crossfire)
Hey there,
I have a Chrysler Crossfire and I have been having issues with the car and after a long road I have finally found out through my local garage (one which we can trust) that its defiantly the ECU unit that has gone faulty. They arranged to have it sent of for repair and the unit is now fixed and back.....BUT.....since they have had the unit back they sent it to a garage that was supposed to be the best of the best in programming cars. Sadly thou they are having huge problems getting it programmed to the car so therefore this is were I am hoping to god someone can help me on here as I really stuck to be honest! I need to find someone that can do the programming....any advice would be hugely appreciated!
Thanks,
Justin

It might be also be worth posting this over on the Mercedes forum too Justin, there are a couple of specialists on there who may be able to help you given the cars shared DNA with the SLK320
Just make sure you put it in the correct sub forum 'Electrics, Vacuum, Ignition & ECU' as they get a bit touchy about technical posts on the general forum over there mate.

If they don't know how to unlock it, they can't program it. Honestly it would be easy to just find one on ebay for $100 get it unlocked and if they have star das go through the programming.
What are they using for programming?

I was hoping our newest code cracker geek would slide in here..
Re: ECU issues and Needs Programming - Help Needed!! (Crossfire)
LMAO!!!! I might as well put this new knowledge to work!
OP, I was vague on the why, my bad I was in a hurry yesterday. Basically if there is something wrong with the ECU it would be pretty darn difficult to figure out where or why. With a new one it would be easier to just input factory settings and run Teach in of Drive Authorization to mate your ECU to your key(s) and VIN. That is also why someone else can't really do the programming for you. Say you send me your ECU, it will be programmed to my key and VIN not yours.
Plus this way will be a lot cheaper than having someone troubleshoot and try to fix yours.

Hey Josh,
I have no idea what the garage is using to do the programming but could try and find out. What one should they be using? On next part, sorry but am slightly confused to be honest so are you saying if I bought a 2nd hand one on ebay it would be easier? But if I did that wouldn't I be in the exact same situation considering that one would need programming. As the one that was originally in he car (one that went faulty) like I said has now been repaired (it had water damage) so bit unsure what the difference would be....and with the one I have currently is there a way of getting it programmed as surely there should be a way of doing it?
Any help would be appreciated as am really lost on all of this to be honest lol. Thanks again
Justin

I missed the part of you saying it was repaired fully, sorry about that. In that case it needs to be unlocked so that the variant coding can be done in Star DAS Development Data. One problem is that Star DAS is completely in German once you get into development data. Just let me know if they have or can get star das with developer or not, if they don't have it, I know a great supplier that is pretty dang cheap considering.
If they can't get it or you want another option, give Rudy (rcompart) on the forum a PM. I think he could figure out a way to program and code to your car specifically, remotely. Also, Beckmann Technologies might be able to do it. Not sure though.
If they have star das but don't want to deal with coding, I could unlock and code it. But star das will still be needed for teach in of drive authorization to mate your key and VIN (very easy though).

Thanks for your reply Josh and wow seems like you know a lot of this stuff! Your reply helped me to understand things a lot better and bit of relief to finally get somewhere. I am going to see the garage which is doing the programming on Monday so I will find out what system they are using and try mentioning some of things you said and see what they say. I will then get back to you with an update on that Monday and go from there if thats ok?
Thanks again,
Justin
Thanks again,

Sorry didn't end up getting back till now but have had a lot of car problems to sort out and couldn't remember login details. Anyways as I couldn't locate this post at first I ended up starting a new post which is at - https://www.crossfireforum.org/forum...sue-help.htmll
It is probably best I did anyway as I have explained everything fully from the start to what is going on now. So please redirect comments there and any comments/help would be HUGELY appreciated! Been having a NIGHTMARE time of it to the say least...
