Default Processor Unit Replacment

Hi everyone - hoping you can help.

I fell in lust with my silver Crossfire Coupe 3.2 (54 plate) in March 2013 and bought it from a 2nd-hand car dealer. From the moment I met this guy I didn't trust him (he wouldn't even shake my hand when we finalised the deal!), but my heart ruled my head and I still bought the car from him.

Within a day of buying it, the airbag warning light came on continuously. I rang the garage who told me that it wouldn't be a fault with the airbag but a fault with the light and "he would sort it". I just got the feeling that his way of "sorting it" would be to pull the wires out of the back to make the light go out!

I then took ill and wasn't able to drive, so my brother took the car to my local Citroen dealer, who service Chryslers, and was told that the processing unit needed to be replaced at a cost of £1200.

By the time I got out of hospital and contacted the guy who sold me the car, he told me that my 30 day warranty had expired and there was nothing he could or would do!

So I'm stuck with needing to replace the processing unit in order for the car to pass its MOT next March.

Anyone know where I could get a refurbished or 2nd-hand processor from?

Any ideas would be gratefully received!

Jill..Check out www.ukcrossfire.co.uk the crossfire owners web page.

There is a breakers listed that has many crossfires that are striped for spares and may well have a processing unit at way below the price you have quoted.

I'm sure that other crossfire owners on .org will have advice for you.

Good luck and welcome to the crossfire family.

hi jill...before you shell out £1200 I would get a second opinion, not saying your garages diagnosis is wrong but might pay to get another one, you might try these people not used them myself but have heard good things, Airbag Man - Vehicle Accident Repair & Automotive Diagnostics in their list of contacts they have an operative in Manchester which is not too far from you, might be worth a call...best of luck...chris
