Get yourself on AutoTrader plenty to choose from!! 13 manuals within your price but not all black, they are cheaper than autos!! but why do you want manual? Merc manual boxes aren't exactly highly rated!!!! and the ones in the crossie is no different.

These two black ones are on the Trader,

I went specifically for a manual when I bought mine, as I float around in a big auto all week and wanted something I actually had to DRIVE at the weekends, a lot of people told me at the time that the manual box wasn't the best but to be honest I find mine to be absolutely spot on, very sharp and positive, I've certainly driven far worse

If I was to criticise anything on the drive train I'd say the clutch action is a bit weird, its a very long travel and quite snatchy, I spent the first two days of ownership lurching away from traffic lights and stop signs like a learner and stalled it a couple of times, but its fine once you get used to it.

As for colours I wanted anything but Black when I was on the lookout, and sods law the marketplace was full of black ones at the time!! so I'm sure you'll get exactly what you are looking for without waiting too long, I wanted a manual roadster that wasn't black, which reduced the 70 odd on autotrader at the time down to 5 in the whole of the UK!! but with patience I still found exactly what I wanted within a few weeks.

Good luck with the search. don't dive in without doing your homework, and remember there is likely to be someone on here close by any prospective purchase who will happily go and have a look at one for you in exchange for a pint at a future owners meet.

Hi there sorry to jump in on the thread but I'm also after the same type car! Well only the last few days I've been digging into trying to out the ups and downs of getting one, to be honest there don't seem to be a lot out there saying much about problems the the car (good thing I suppose) just would like to know what people would look for in buying a new used car? Ie would you be concerned in buying a high mileage, manufacture call backs, leaks or signs of bad ownership etc and what would you be looking for in a test drive?
Thanks all

Generally very reliable cars, as can be seen by how busy this forum isn't!!

A few things to look for, such as rust in the rear wheel arches which is common due to the daft design with the lips acting as a mud trap, some cars have suffered water ingress due to blocked drains so check for dry carpets and inside the base of the boot, they rust around the boot latch but that is an easy DIY repair, and some have had cats fail and start rattling, but that is all worst case scenario stuff, mine is 10 years old now and I've had it over a year, in that time I've simply polished it and driven it.

Like any used car there will be good un's and a few dogs out there, just take you time and you'll find a nice one.
