Default RCM and CPS problems

as you will see I'm seriously thinking about a Crossfire and been doing a little digging into weak spots.
Seems the RCM and CPS come into the problem areas.
Are either of these a given ie they will happen eventually or only a few cars affected?
Thanks

When you read a forum like this you get to see the problem areas, but you should keep it all in perspective. If you went to a hospital you would see a lot of sick people but you would not automatically think that everyone everywhere is sick.
Sure the RCM can cause problems but it can be examined and a fix applied to any obvious problem areas. The CPS can cause problems as well, just carry a spare and the tools install it.
Buy a car that has been well maintained not beaten to death. Then look here for solutions for any problem that may arise, do not go to a dealer.

Replace the CPS every 50K and it is doubtful you will have any trouble with that issue.

Re: If you do have trouble with the RCM.
I had a problem last year which turned out to be the RCM. I had some trouble trying to get it fixed here (in the UK) and ended up sending it to a guy "on this forum" in the USA who tests it, repairs any bad connections etc and sends it back. All it cost was the postage both ways and a small charge for the repair. No need to buy a new RCM and no problems with it since then. Hope this helps.
Generally, my only advice would be to use the car if you buy one. If you SORN it and lock it away for months over winter (as I have done many times) you might end up with problems - that has been my mistake.
