We're looking for a Crossfire conv. owner in Southern California
Hello,
we are looking for an owner of a Crossfire Convertible preferably in Southern California (LA, San Diego, Las Vegas).
We are trying to find out some differences between the SLK 170's and Crossfire's roof control system.
We would be very happy to get in touch with someone locally and offer one of our products for free in turn.
Thanks for your support.
Sven

Sven - If you get no response from any private owners, Chrysler has a field office in Irvine that could help, or a local dealer in the cities you mentioned may be of assistance.
@harbor: thanks!
Hi Mike,
in the first step we would like to take a look at the Crossfire roof control system to decide if it's possible to adapt our module for the SLK 170/171 to the crossfire system.
As far as we know, the crossfire was built on the basis of the Mercedes Benz SLK 170 and we hope that they use the same roof control electronics.
Because we already have a perfectly working module for the SLK's it would be obvious to develop one for the crossfire, too.
Maybe you can send me your email/telephone number by PM/EMAIL to discuss everything further - thanks!

I am just wondering what your product would be for specifically and the market that you want to tap into?

It might be a bit tricky with the Crossfire top though since there's a manual release for the locking mechanism at the top of the windshield. That would make lowering the roof from a distance as you approach the car rather tricky.
Up to how many miles is it allowed to operate the top by factory?
Do you have to HOLD the button or is it a kind of ONE-TOUCH mechanism already?

- manually rotate a handle at the windshield header to unlock the roof
- push and hold a button on the center console to lower the windows and fully stow the top

I remember trying to pop down my top while driving slowly of course and after getting above that 10 mph rating she stopped. I think that is probably not a bad thing as once i did this on a sebring while driving and it affected the fold and crushed the window!

One-Touch means to just tap the button once - that's it.

How much is the question for people to have this? The roadster crowd is limited in number and one would hope that there would be enough demand for you to get this to work out for you.
How lazy have people gotten when holding down the button on their stylish sport convertibles is such hard work they have to buy an appliance to do it for them. GOD IS GOING TO DESTROY THE WORLD SOON!
But I do wish you luck with your innovation.

And for the record, my car requires two feet and the manual moving of a lever just to change gears, so I'm certainly not lazy.

It would be nice to just hit a button and go, rather than sit and wait. Yes, it's a small thing but this is supposed to be an at least somewhat premium car - it should have a few more nice premium features. I don't know that I'd jump to pony up the money for this but if the manufacturer is willing to comp me one to help them out, well, I'm not stupid!!
